Hi Nando..... That is a nice looking receiver. Agree that wood tops plastic if possible. Ha, I am going to end up with a house full of cult things and not even know it!

What other receivers do you have?

I also bought those RS speakers new and also bought a pair for my Mom to upgrade from those homemade ones mentioned in the speaker thread.

I looked up those Pioneer and Korner speakers you guys mentioned, very nice. Looks like those Korner's would need serious power or are they very efficient?

Here is a not so good photo of the cabinet.....

Hi Robert,

A few old receivers I recently played with this past year:

Pioneer SX-D7000

Realistic STA-84

Realistic STA-90

Sansui QR-4500 Quadraphonic

About the Realistic Minimus 7 speakers: I lent my original pair to my sister who blew the tweeter on one of the speakers. I managed to find an NOS replacement driver at the local Radio Shack store before it converted to The Source. it was a Pioneer driver, and the long excursion woofer also was a Pioneer replacement.

I hope you have years of enjoyment from your SX-850!

Wow Nando,

You have some seriously nice toys there.... Is that a 650 Pioneer cassette? If it is I had one and gave it to my brother back in college days. He was planning to give it back to me a few months back and someone stole it, I was bummed!

How are those Sansui quad receivers? A fair number of them show up around here on Craigslist. Almost snagged a Sansui 8080DB a few days ago but that darn day job keeps one from so many deals.

Interesting on these minimus speakers having Pioneer drivers. Guess that helps explain why they sound so good for their size.

Thanks for sharing Nando!

Yes, it's a Pioneer CT-F650. I bought it and an Akai GX-F31 from the original owner for a total cost of $65. The owner built a custom wood case for it, as the optional wood case was not available with the Pioneer CT-F650.

I didn`t get to use the Sansui QR-4500 in quadraphonic mode, unfortunately. But an 8080DB would be a great receiver from what others have said about it.

I have a JVC 4VR-5446 and had a Pioneer QX-747 with a QX-8000 awaitng repairs. If you have a Discrete (or CD-4) mode it's a wonderful thing! It only takes another good STEREO amp and a surround processor and you made good use of it!

The D7000 gets opened up by the weekend!

We have to do something with the big pics. Drives my computers crazy trying to see the last post. I bounce every where always back to the pics.

Then you need to check with Jer, mine doesn't bounce unless they're not loaded yet, is that what you mean?

Hi Lee, That would be very interesting to see what you did for speakers...... There is a complete wood shop downstairs and building speakers sounds way more exciting than the kitchen cabinets that I should be working on.

Question: There is a Sansui QRX-7500 that popped up locally.... Any idea how that would compare with 4500 we talked about earlier in this thread?

Thanks,
Robert

Sorry Lee, I missed this posting..... I have been playing phone tag with the guy all week. I was hoping to go see it this weekend but he is out of town so maybe next week. Will most likely keep it if I end up with it (as the backroom needs something), but you have first dibs. The photo looks like it's pretty cherry. He actually is asking $200, I miss-spoke earlier as I was thinking of one of the other receivers I called on the same day.

BTW: The CD $'s are on the way, you should see it by later next week.

I don't see as many Sansui quad receivers as Akai and Pioneer. There were a few at the Innovative Audio Garage Sale.

Soooo Perrddyy!!!!!!

I would have to leave the checkbook at home if that place were anywhere close to me! You have great will-power Nando!
Don't get me wrong, Robert. I have spent some good coin at Innovative Audio to buy near-new vintage components. Gordon knows my taste, so I am able to get a few items before they are offered for sale to the public.

I think the last major component purchase I had there was this mint Esoteric V-9000 cassette deck. Stuwee has a nice Teac, as well.

Hi Nando,

I did not have any doubts in your ability to spend on nice toys. I can tell you have great taste through the photos you have shared thus far. It's the restraint that I admired when surrounded by great deals! You really do have some amazing equipment...... Most of mine stuff is pretty nice as well. Thus far most everything in the collection get used lots so keeping it in like showroom condition is real hard if not impossible, so I dream.......

What model Teac is that?

Hi Robert,

Yes, I've learned restraint, but it hasn't been easy. I've become very selective, and it takes something extraordinary for me to spend my hard-earned cash on. At Innovative Audio, there are plenty of great components to choose from. Gordon's prices are very reasonable and he is willing to negotiate to an extent. He loves his line of work and it shows in the type of business he and his staff operate. He winces any time I say I'm interested in something he has for sale because I always expect the Italian discount.

There's a great deal of pride in having a vintage system which sounds as good as it looks. Keep up the good work in maintaining your system and you'll have years of enjoyment from it.

The cassette deck is an Esoteric V-9000 and I"ll snap some more close-ups of it later on the week. Thanks for your interest!

Nando.
