Hey all,
I'm thinking about a new used preamp, in the $500 range.
The Kenwood L-07C seems to be well regarded, and it looks nice; pretty much dual mono block preamp construction.
Opinions or recommendations? Right now the best sound in the house is my rebuilt SX-1250 preamp section. It beats my Luxman C-350 and my Hafler DH-101 hands down. Something is wrong with the Luxman, and I can't pin it down...
Thanks!
Dave

Dave: You already run an SAE 2800 parametric equalizer. How about a matching SAE 2100L preamplifier?

Nando, is that yours??

Dave, any of the SA series of Pioneer integrateds have great pre-amp sections and pre out jacks IIRC, the Kenwood KA integrateds also. So if you have problems finding your dream pre you're not taking much of a step down using one of those, in fact the 1250 pre section is great too.

Thats why I keep the little SA 7100 around, cant count how many times its been used as a replacement power section or pre amp. Comes in handy when something goes out.

Yes, Lee, the 2100L is mine. I had a Pioneer SA-9500II integrated amplifier which was choice, both as an amplifier and preamplifier. But, I suspect the preamp side of the Pioneer SX-1250 is comparable.

I know for Dave the look wouldn't be a match for his present components, but my Pioneer Elite C-72 control amplifier is top notch. And infrared remote control for volume, too.

So that's why you were looking for more SAE gear EH?? Chris is gpoing to liquidate his SAE stuff in the spring and has quite a bit of it. He's supposed to send a list. I have a 2400 homesteading at Nav's place...

Lee: Yes, that's what I was intending, but things change quickly when something pops up that I am interested in.
