Polk SDA Amp Recommendations

I would have sold him my Carver PT 2400 for a thousand, but it's wounded, and once again, it doesn't sound as good as a WOPL. We're kinda fucked for listening to something that doesn't sound as good as a WOPL anymore...and I don't believe a lot of amps are gonna fit in that category anymore.....

I had a DH500 and I remember it did not sound that great. I got it for $200 at the Coventry Fleamarket when it was still located in the old roller rink (now Ingram's auction house). It also shutdown a lot driving those old Infinity Quantum 5's I had with the 12" Watkins woofers but those are nasty speakers for a lot of amps anyway. They killed a Pioneer 160wpc integrated I had LOL

Perry and I were just discussing this on the phone the other day

A blessing and a curse.....and my Spec 2's continue to gather dust.....

This board sucks!!!

I am afraid that you are the joke and the one that f-ing sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a great site with the best people and tons of info to go round it is same that it only take one person like you to destroy a utopia like this I feel bad for all the mods and admins that have to put-up with your BS

are the storys I have herd about wopls true that they will ruen you for life and send all other amps in your home screaming out the door and they will expose all the week points in your system

Lee's Quasi 400 "The Ultimate Pig" sent a $15k Mark Rowland amp packing...

That depends, it' seems to be the consensus around here that they are one of the best sounding amps out there period. As far as send other amps screaming from the room......

I personally run Wopls against----Denon POA -2800, Spec 2's, Bryston 4B, SAE 2400, Carver PT 2400, Marantz 250, and a couple others I've forgotten...

No, that was the full comp "Silver Shadow" 400....

Lee, did you ever test that one tranny I mentioned to you. It was one of the last two sent in the cabbage case IIRC, it had the windings sticking out twice as far as the others. You ever test that one??? Ed said it was one of the originals that Bob Carver's brother hand wound

Yes it does, and still looks glorious as of 2-14-2017, when I was at his place last...

No, hell I just got it out of the cabbage case 2 days ago when it headed out to bring the 300.00 "B" home. Still haven't unpacked the last box.....

He had it hooked to some JBL L-200's on the patio this year, a pretty damn nice combination....

Out of curiosity Lee, what would have you suggested short of a WOPL. I thought the Carver M1.5T would have been a good matchup though I am not sure it's a common ground amp. I always assumed a common ground amp would pretty be any stereo amp without a 3 prong cord. Would that be correct? EDIT: Or is it dual mono construction?

Hehe.. the M1.5T is most certainly a common ground amp (remember yours? It's still here waiting for my round tuit to repopulate the output trannies and give it another go... )

How long would I have to save/make payments on one?

I tried to send Jer a packing box and materials big enough for a Sansui 3300 and it's 36 lb. weight and the post office wanted $58 to send a box...I'm still trying on that one.

...Big SAE's perhaps??

We have a lively conversation going thanks to the Op, there can be a silver lining dudes

Is Steven thinking of selling the big Jeff Rowland cheap now?? I have to ask.

Got a thousand laying around?

I can't donate plasma with the pills I gotta take, and brothels are too obvious here...damnit.

I'm not going to do that anyway when I haven't had a date in 17 years...
