Not that I see Lee, a local guy who is an avid flyfisherman said it was made in the 40s or 50s and is from Maine. He could tell how the ferrels were wrapped or something like that??? It's very stiff and whatever laquer they used is peeling in places on it

Took a master rod maker to make a stiff bamboo rod. I have 2 given to me by my Grandpa Pitts, a 9 foot 7 wt 2 piece and a 7-1/2 foot 5 wt 2 piece..

Ah....not much dry fly action on the North Platte, all subsurface mostly...

No, the flex is there to take the shock out of the trouts movements so youi don't tear a 3 lb tippet apart. Flyrods are built to be stiff on a forecast and less so in the backcast. A fish has to be "played" not "horsed" on a flyrig. You have to tire them out which means keeping them on for awhile, which is where skill is helpful. Anything over 1-1/2-2lbs is a joy...

Were you in the red section of your rod meter when you were bringing it in Lee?

Did my share of freshwater fishing for bass and whatnot, but my fondest memory has to be when I was in Diego Garcia for a year while in the Nav. DG is an island basically in the middle of the Indian Ocean, with a very sharp dropoff not 300 yards from the beaches. We had a choice in "boats" if we wanted to fish that way - either an actual old WW2 landing craft that would take 20 at a time for around 50 half day/100 whole day bottom fishing for cod, sweetlips, etc, or 65/130 for five people trolling for marlin, wahoo, tuna, and whatnot.

And one of the best past times was throwing a bait off one of the island's "points" with the cooler full of beer for a night. Catch all sorts of beasties, but the one fish with serious bragging rights was the "GT" or Giant Trevally. I remember just a 25 pounder taking me a good mile down the shore before finally landing it. But the record was over 140 lbs, with 50 to 70 pounders not uncommon. Good eatin' too!

Very good. Had a guy a couple of doors down that was from Jamaica, and boyhowdy after he was done with it.... serious feast!

I just had Sally SCREAMING, actually got the left speaker's midrange protect circuit to activate for a moment, the meters were stone flat all through Bytor and the Snowdog . She stayed cool as a cucumber the whole time, I am playing Rush - All the Worlds A Stage on cd BTW
