PL 700 Series II Clair Brothers Amps

Try the Ron method, no dim bulb or variac needed, just a set of speakers that you have peanuts into and a big swinging pair of balls. Oh yeah, and a fire extinguisher if necessary. Notice I had the speakers close by the woodstove just in case ROTFALMAO!!!!!!!!!! I figured if they caught on fire, I would not need to use kindling, just chuck 'em in and add a few logs

:laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: I've seen my share of plasma made from evaporating electronics so I tend to tip toe a bit.

Thanks Dennis
I had give the knob offer a try. What is the hole spacing on the rack mounts. I may have some black handles for you? I just got three sets of stainless handles to try. I will post photo later in the month of them. They may also look good on your black face plate.

I'll get a measurement and get back with you via PM. We might have a trade on the horizon.

How's paradise treating you?

Keep us posted on the builds. Glad you like them. Just drove 1700 miles and I'm toast. Can't wait to get back and start the CLAIR restorations myself. I got all the parts sitting on the shelf waiting. Gotta see if there is anybody interested in another consecutive numbers pair of restored Clair amps. (Or 5 consecutive numbers amps) have fun

I'm deeply sorry you have to endure that Glen....

My thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with you and the family.....

If you meet Puff, ask him to give my love and thanks to Mary.

Ed showed me the rework to install NEW POWER SWITCHES AND METER SWITCHES. He's a talented MOFO..... Gotta love him.... Took only a few minutes, works and fits perfect. I did 4 in just a few minutes. Had to drill 1 hole and use a tiny rat tail file to file a groove for the pin that sticks out of the new power switch. The power switch (http://www.ebay.com/itm/391039854285?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT) is easy to find (I bought a stack for $15)

and the new meter switch (http://www.ebay.com/itm/131672886799?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT) I found a stack for cheap too.

The first pic is the original, the second pic is the new. Only one screw is needed on the meter switch since a fly can push it in, the power switch requires 2 screws.
