Like my BlueTooth ?
Aluminum plate across the main filter caps.

Another question. Started back working on this one. The question..The filter caps have an aluminum plate mounted to them. On that piece of aluminum the bridge rectifier is also mounted. I have never seen any amp that had an aluminum plate mounted directly to the screws of the main filter caps with little insulators like this. I know the plate is probably used as a heat sink for the BR but this seems screwed up to me. when I put this all back together should I find /make new insulators and leave it as is or mount the BR somewhere else, the new one of course. Thanks.

According to Dean (Phase Linear's last service manager at the Lynnwood, Washington location) the aluminum plate was used as a "hum shield". Just how effective it was will be determined in some of my upcoming tests.

NOTE: The later Phase Linear 700B's and 700 series 2 amplifiers had an aluminum inner end bell which also provides approximately 1/2" spacing between the transformer and chassis. Using an original 700 transformer in an amplifier set up either as a 700B or 700 series 2 without this inner end bell will create some clearance issues with the VU meters, etc.

OK, thanks guys. Actually that would be easier for me to do than move the BR. Now, to find the insulators I will need as the old ones are degraded. Any clues or should I improvise / build my own.
