Don't know what HPM driver that is supposed to be but it's not an HPM 100 or 150. They are constructed like the 1010 woofer. The 100 woofer has the larger magnet structure over the 150. The DSS-9 also contains very well built drivers.

i wouldn't mind a pair of these for my main system... wouldn't mind not one little bit.

while i tend to prefer the overall looks of the DSS series, i'd definitely be able to live quite happily ever after with a pair of these 1010s.

too damned bad they are so blasted hard to come by...

You mentioned recone did you mean reformed.Do you know if they are a mirrored image pair are they too right.I didn't get lucky enough to get a mirrored image pair. But they are still real sweet I enjoy them very much. When I got mine the mid tweeters were smoked. It took about 9 months to find replacement but it was well worth it.The HPM 700 woofer is the same size but a lot less woofer. The motor structure is larger and the spider is stiffer on the S1010 it is a lot more woofer.

Ok We played lets make a deal, I own them for 375.00, all re-coned,, crossovers all taken care of, the cabinets are in excellent shape with the exception of one small ring,,the cloths are all original and in nice shape, I managed to get them into the Whale one in the back seat one riding shotgun,,the only problem is getting them up the stairs to plug them in,,I'll get some pics up when I have them in the living room

Smokin' deal, Robert. You can't get a pair of lesser Pioneer HPM-60s in rebuilt condition for that price in these parts.

I couldn't wait I schlepped them upstairs and hooked them up. I listened to a little Classical and my first impression is that they seem to fill a room,Tomorrow I run a Little Carlos Santana thru them and see how they perform

you should like them. even in a decent sized living room, they had no trouble sounding very good with a Super-T amp (about 15wpc chip amp). give them some real watts and watch out.

Got a Buzz in the Woofer, don't know if was there from the start or it happened as I moved them upstairs,,,God I hate re-coning speakers,, the high end on these speakers are amazing but because I can't feed them enough power to get the base to move I had to give them a little loudness pump,,no need to get into a gun battle with the peeps next door,, also may consider going back to my 2 Yammie M50s one amp for each speaker,,,The bass buzz is gone,,maybe something shifted when I was trying to muscle these bitches up a Flight of stairs but has since re-aligned or something (yeah I'm a Techy) anyway They sound great

I haven't seen a pair of those Pioneer speakers pop up, locally, so it's interesting to hear what you think of them, FF.

Whats great is the condition they are in, they look like they were in storage for a long time. I really need to get my Yamaha Pre fixed, the EQ is superior to my Mac,,no slam on the Mac but the EQ is not in the same ball park and I need to make the speakers fit the room and the Yammie EQ will do that
