Pics of your Favorite Cassette Tapes

Nice Daren! I have very few reel-style cassettes. I'll see if I can post a picture of one.

Teac Cobalt Reel-style Cassette

I found this one a few years back.

Miles: Only found in that particular series run of TDKs... from Mexico? I always check the back of the wrap to ensure the cassette disclaimer doesn't mention the use of TDK tape may cause:

*an increasing sense of energy and alertness
*an extremely elevated mood
*a feeling of supremacy

Those symptoms only occur after I've recorded onto the blank.

Looking good. Perfect for showcasing cassette decks.

Sealed or unsealed - those Teac tapes are desired by enthusiasts all over the world.

I still have the one that you (kindly) sent me.

Well, it isn't obvious those TDK metals are from Columbia......

Thanks Daren. As we all know, the tape itself is average-grade for recording. I have another exclusive reel-style cassette gifted to me by Gordon of Innovative Audio on a trip he had early this year to California. I will post pictures of it later.

In this case, it doesn't really matter if the tape is mediocre. Like the TDK MA-R (and others), it is an iconic cassette.

Keep the photos coming Nando. I have loads more to add.

Have you tried any super ferrics at all?

I have tried TDK AR and AR-X with great results, wish I had more of them. Basf Ferro Maximas are ok but have more hiss to them.

The AR is one of the great ferrics.

Look out for the XLI-S and UDI from Maxell. The TX & FX from That's are also highly recommended but quite scarce.

Given the choice, I'd opt for super-ferrics over (most) metals every time.

Remember this, Daren? A gift package I received from you after the TDK MA-R mix tape I did for you.

Nando.

Yes!

Clearly the TDK tapes are the best of the bunch but I really like that Memorex because of the coloured reels! I think that was a pretty fair trade Nando. Getting a mix tape on a MA-R was very special.

That image brings back good memories of my time trading mixes over at the other place.

Daren: I hope to institute the same level of camaraderie with mix tape exchanges here on Phoenix. I think, if you have the equipment, it's better to use it than lose it.

I am considering offering another TDK MA-R mix tape for another very proficient mix tape enthusiast on Phoenix. This has been my most productive year for mix tape exchanges, so far - I'm going to guess no fewer than twenty, thus far - maybe hit 30 by the end of the year.

Here's another excellent batch sent by yours and my most generous friend, Vincenzo:

Oh yes Nando, you're so right about Vince and he's a generous friend and a genuine lover of this hobby, i do have as well from him a THATS FX and also the ECP from BASF loaded in those coloured shell which produce some very nice sounding recordings for a typeI tape :thumbright:

Right about that, Sep: generous guy and knows his tapes. And here is his classic release which a few of us enjoyed:

I am not alone in admiring your enthusiasm and dedication Nando.

We all know how committed you have to be when embarking on projects like these. The time and effort (& postage costs) that go into producing and shipping mix tapes across the globe is not something that should be underestimated.

I can see that there is a strong community of like-minded individuals at Phoenix already. Maybe I'll get involved again myself; until then I am more than content just watching you guys have fun.

Whoever gets the MA-R is in for a treat!

Oh yes Nando, i do have several RATS tapes from Vince and he enchanted me with his musical style, also i do have my green tape from him as well very nice recorded with L.P.D. Legendary Pink Dots, i love this tape so much :thumbright:

Let's not forget: Nando was the guy who inspired me to pick up taping again.

These sentences could be mine Daren, but thank you for spoken them.
