i cleaned up the board earlier....did not pay attention to any corrosion etc....
was just looking for something obvious...
i did look at what george suggested when i got the post...but, i had already cleaned with qtip and alcohol....
i did not notice anything obvious

got the driver dampened and the plates installed in the voigts...
they really sound nice...the plates helped out with the bass a bit...
very strong speakers....very efficient....
got all sanded and waiting on the painter....
i have a little to do around the plates....

They are all the holes in the board that route a trace to the opposite side of the board or to a trace in a middle layer of a multilayer board.

My design practice for boards is no vias or at most, 1 or 2. I make sure that a component lead gets soldered into every hole on the boards I design.

It makes for higher reliability.

Hard or impossible to accomplish on high density boards with high pinout surface mount devices.

fluke has not written back yet...
if i can find a junker...i will attempt a fix...
i will not toss it...i will stumble on something sooner or later ...in the mean time i am watching for another meter...whats ironic???
the only thing i have that is broke is the device i use to fix broke stuff...
got some gold plated rca plugs for the 4 fin and 200...all the rest have been changed...

messed with the new system a bit...the voigts are really growing on me....i moved the wopl to the voigts and the old 4 fin is now driving the woofers...
it really sounds fantastic to me...
i do need to change input jacks on 4 fin...have to wiggle the connection sometimes ....the 8 fin was the same until i changed them...
tomorrow...
of course painter did not show....welcome to costa rica!!!

how about a fluke story this morning...
last week i wrote about another selector wheel....
got back a part number that was not right...
i responded and sent a pic...which was not in the parts listings...
was referred to tech support....higher up the chain...
this morniing after hearing nothing...i wrote asking if my problem was important to them...
responded quickly that he had to refer to the bom...as it was not listed in the parts...
within a half hour i had diagrams and part numbers...
he said from the pic...i only needed one contact...
they dont sell the wheel with the contacts installed...
you have to buy the wheel...and 4 individual contacts...
and i think we agreed that i would buy the wheel and 4 new contacts...
to start from scratch....
he sent the phone number to order parts...
i asked for email to order...as phone here is not so reliable...
and i like a paper trail...
nice way to start off a wednesday...
lol
at least i have options now...
but, i think there is more to the story...i think the meter has other problems too...
i am actively searching another meter...but, will pursue fixing this one in my own time frame...
i still have 2 chinese meters....i can get by until i can do better...

still waiting to get paint going for the voigts....they are really nice ....
the dsp is not acting right...and parts express has shipped another...
i did set up a profile in the dsp for the fifteen inch woofers to play between 20 and 80 hz...
but, at very low volume....just want that little bass feeling that only comes from the big ones...lol
will experiment more with the other dsp gets here...

...been raining too much really....
had 26 inches in september....
its raining pretty steady still after 3.5 inches so far today....
i do prefer the rainy season....everything is so green, cool, and smells good....
it will stop by the end of december...and by april, its pretty dry....
and it will start back up normally in the first week or so in may....
