It is very reassuring when you grab your meter and know you can rely on it. The other senior engineer has a pile of cheap meters (probably paid more in total than I did for mine) and they all suck. No repeatability.
Not a big deal to see if you have 480 or not, but useless for low voltage and switch/relay work.
I think one brand of tools may have used: “you’re as good as your tools” or something like that…
Edit- mine is the 87-V, not the 77. The RMS bar graph at the bottom has come in handy a few times for pulse signals on PLC inputs/outputs.
