Gene, I've come to understand output depends on B+ and B- at the caps. My S1 is 80 VDC, my S2 is 82 VDC.
It really makes no difference, either would overheat and melt my JBL voice coils before they clipped and caused the dreaded distortion that kills for sure.

Correct George, directly related... I have a PL 400 transformer that is 108 B+, B-.... the shit must have been REALLY good that day..

That's a stretch...maxed out at clipping is really not a CONTINUOUS rating...things don't last

I’m convinced the WOPL 400 is a relative bargain, I haven’t had any mega buck Krell amps in my possession but I did sell my well regarded tube amp and I’m not using the 300b which cost way more $$$ to build

Me too, I call it out every time And no KEP nuts, those are for holding antenna towers and such together and have no place in electronics.

has anyone ever changed/replaced the glass in 400 meters...my 4 fin has a predominant shadow in the center from the needle...maybe it wouldnt be so bad with untinted glass..

It is a molded plastic part Gene. And yes, the tinted meters are the worst.

Depends on the meter brand you get on your new amps.

Not many tinted lenses are out there and you just lucked into it. They were only on the 4 fin units as they were a box of chocolates.

For the untinted lenses, the warm white is best. Has an amber tint like incandescent bulbs do. Your 8 fin will have untinted lenses.
