Peace Of Mind

A 120 volt 60 amp circuit is not out of the realm of possibility and would only take #6 wire. However there is a more efficient way of getting the wattage that represents.

If you have 2 monos pulling 60 amps each that is 120 amps. You could not turn much on in a 200 amp service. I think he was confused. Yes you could do a 60 amp 120 circuit ; but why? Wouldn't be efficient at all. 14 is 15 amp, 12 is 20 amp, 10 is 30 amp, 8 would be 40 amp, 6 would be 50 amp, and 4 would be 60 amp. Service is usually 00 or is it 0000 on a 200 amp? I'm trying to remember how to figure conductors. You have to do the load plus a certain percentage. Which I can't remember.

There is a standard ormula for sizing house service but I can't recall it at the moment. There is a standard DERATING for more than 3 conductors in a conduit or cable. #6 copper in uf-55amps, #6 copper in THW/THWN-65 amps, #6 copper in SIS/THHn-75 amps. 3 ought in THHN woul be 225 amps capacity.

#14 , #12, #10 have an NEC coded breaker size based on the lowest rated wire that can be run in a 120 volt branch circuit. #14 THHN is actually good for 25 amps, #12 THHN is good for 30 amps and #10 THHN is good for 40 amps. Insulation type and thickness plays a big part in ampacity ratings.

I don't remember it. I was going by what I do remember. I was taught or the code was 12 does 20. 14 does 15. I very seldom did 14 ga. I never ran switches or lights on the outlet circuit. Just me. Why do 15 amps and depending what you are running on the circuit it will trip. Plus on a 20 amp I could put more outlets in the room. Somethings I'm anal about. Never wanted to get a call. The house you wired burn down. Just like GFIs if you have more than one use a CB. In the long run it will be cheaper. Yea I'm a little weird where some things are concerned. LOL

Well I got another Belkin for some I am trading with. I really hope this works for them. I think it will. 500,000.00 insurance. Not bad. Here are some Pics.
