Went to the 1976 show. It is was a very polished show for being the opening act on the Isolar tour.
Over the years he put out some very good material. I cannot say I liked much of his stuff but though's I did are sill humming in my head.

That's prophetic, Miles. Like many others, I didn't know how dire his prognosis was. There is plenty of coverage on CBC of David Bowie's life. Canadian astronaut, Chris Hadfield, was the first to record a song from the Space Station.

I thought you guys would appreciate the tribute song by Chris Hadfield.

I managed to find a CD of Bowie's "Blackstar." There was only one available. I told my son, who lives in Montreal, the bad news today. I'm sending him this CD and I had to order a CD for myself. Anyone considering the vinyl copy?

Nando.

As a young gay man in the '70's he showed me that it's ok to be "a bit off"
When I was coming to grips with being gay in the 70s Bowie actually scared the SHIT out of me... Am I supposed to dress and cut my hair like that???

David Bowie made me buy my first colour TV. I just moved into a house with a room mate and my TV was a 12" B&W. Watched a show called "In Concert" and saw Bowie for the first time. A few months later, I read it would be re-broadcast so I went on the never, never plan for $650 in 1973 dollars for a 20" RCA with stand so I could watch again in colour on a big screen.

I think I have every album he made (Bowie or Davy Jones) up to and including Lodger. Also have the Cat People soundtrack. Got one later release on CD and the Tin Machine pair. Sold all my 12" singles but kept "Heros". Just found "Heathen" used on CD but haven't listened to it yet.

I was a fan.
20" RCA = big screen???>>>>>>>>>>>>har, har! LOL

I confess, my big shock was the death of Jim Morrison - after that, no biggie.

Stuwee, by creepy I meant he was not mainstream at the time. He was not gay, he was bisexual though the distinction is blurred I suppose. He seemed "eccentric" and over the top to the point of absurdity. Much like Miley Cyrus...
She can't even get busted now, one way or another.

I guess I should've said it took me a few years to realize that, fem guys scared the SHIT out of me too! I survived my high school years in the Bible Belt as a gay teen by 'fitting in', I loved cars, sports and just being a regular masculine guy, I was hiding behind an image of what was expected, I'm still the same man, I just have become more excepting of those not like me...Bowie's music and persona helped me with that struggle...Bless Him!!

Steven, thanks for that tip about the gatefold of his last LP, one of many presents he left us with
