The threaded standoffs. Do you have the assembly notes open to page 6?
 
I apologize Lee, I must sound like an imbecile with some of these questions. Part of my problem is the fact that my shop is a hundred feet or so away from the house and I don't have a computer out there, nor do I have a color printer so I'm running back and forth from the house to the shop and looking at black and white printouts. When I went through the parts for the backplane boards I don't remember seeing the solder cups but I'm sure they must be there, I'll go out and check in a few minutes and get back to you. Sorry for the confusion.
 
The fog seems to be lifting...

Okay, I found the solder cups in with all the passive components, placed them in position and taped them down, NOW the tape makes sense, as does the photo on page 6, I can see the cups inside the holes in the circuit board.

After I solder them in place, then I go on to the threaded standoffs, which are inserted into their respective circuit board slots on the non-silk screened side and also soldered on that side, as I read the instructions. Correct?
 
Thermoswitch

Before it gets misplaced I think I'll reconnect the thermoswitch to the wire harness. It looks like either wire can be connected to either side of the thermoswitch, is that correct?

Thanks Joe! Okay, looks like I'll be doing at least the solder cups, the threaded standoffs and the thermoswitch tonight after the Mrs. hits the hay. She's working this weekend and I'd like to get the boards populated and wired together, at least (hopefully), maybe more so clearing up these few things is a big help! Thanks guys!
 
Solder cups and threaded standoffs

Alright, just came in from the shop where I finished soldering the 32 solder cups and the 32 threaded standoffs to both backplane boards. Here's some photos so if anyone sees anything I need to address, feel free to chime in, you won't hurt my feelings. The first four are of the same board, shots from two sides of each side and the last three are the second board one shot from just one side of the solder side and two different side angles of the silk-screened side.

With regard to the thermoswitch, Lee, Joe or anyone who knows I've got a question. The thing I was referring to as a "wire harness" is a single, stranded, copper wire with thick insulation which is then surrounded by additional insulation consisting of a rubber exterior with a fabric (nylon?) interior. Where'd the other wire go!!?!! (Rhetorical question, I'll find it!!)

Okay, I went back looking for a photo showing the thermoswitch still connected and found one and it shows the wire I'm referring to connected to one lug and another, much thinner wire connected to the other lug. It looks like that thin (black) wire must have come from the copper bar at the power supply caps based on a photo taken after wire had been replaced with new, white wire. Alright, now I know that the wire I split, needs to be whole and on one lug only and later I'll be running a new wire to the other lug on the thermoswitch. Sounds easy enough! ;)
 
The bus bar is part Of the DC circuit for the power supply. The thermoswitch interrupts the ABC mains in.one leg of the TS comes from the fuse clip...the other goes to one side of the transformer primary..

Which fuse clip, I assume it matters, yes? Thanks Lee.
 
Populating the backplane boards

I'm ready to start populating the backplane boards and the instruction sheet mentions a sheet I can't find in any of my literature which, I assume is a printout of a drawing of the boards showing C10, R9, etc. with a list of each components value. Is that document available in PDF form? I only ask as the instruction sheet mentions that it's Excel and I don't have software that supports that.
 
I have that in pdf but I'm not at the house. The parts should be labeled on the bag. And the backplanes are silkscreened with the part numners..

I can get going then, I need my glasses to do this work anyway and I've got a magnifier light that will make it pretty easy to read the silk screening on the boards, I think. Thanks Lee.
 
Welcome Nelson. Helping Timdalf wire in the phase converter for his new drill press so I'll be in and out but I'll check every chance I get..
