Navo, here is your switch. Just took me a minute. First pic is the original setup, second is the finished. Sorry, if you want chrome, that will be 10 grand... :)

Now you got new switches and will be good for another million years. I do this to all the rebuilds I do. Drill one hole, and a small groove with a mini rat tail file.

Hell yeah, once I saw how easy it was and the switches are out there easy to find. I took an old switch (power) apart and the contacts were blasted. Can't see putting anything like that out there. Ed has some cool mods... Now, if I can only remember what he told me... Getting old....

I put the attenuator resistors in too. I used 1/8 watt and I have had no issues going that small. The cap on the power switch is what I found on the Clair units. Most likely added by the road tech's. Some had them, some not so I just use them anyway.

A good idea Perry. Are you paralleling the contacts on the power switch?

I suggest you to use an external 16 A relay , just like PL 4000 series 1 .
Don't forget two 22 -27000pf 1 kV across the contacts of the relay .

Thyristor?

Have you guys read the article on AK about adding the thyristor to the power switch? Glenn (Echo Wars ) seems to highly recommend this. Keep I mind I know very little, but if this might help in this application I would be glad to forward those interested the link or post the link here.

It is a common, low cost, inrush limiter. Drawbacks are, (1) once it warms up and drops in resistance, a short power off and on cycle will not limit inrush since the NTC is already hot; (2) they add resistance to the primary of the transformer which limits output power in a small way; (3) they fail.

If it sucks up a half a watt of my WOPL, that's too much. Screw the good Ideas....

I don't need a Thyroid hooked to my shit anyway...

The amp is built to take it when built correctly so why do it? Really only makes sense if the inrush is tripping your house breaker.
