it was all the married women who wanted to ride with me.

While out bombing around in the middle of Howe Sound with the local femmes in my ski boat, I would pull the choke while at full throttle, and the engine would suddenly die, of course. Then I would shake my head, and say, "Oops, out of gas... Now what should we do?" The girls, my age, would grab a paddle, but the married ones...

You need to warm up a bit, Lee. Even stuwee, rusty as he is, could have got that one. The clue was "choke."

Nice Firebird, avionic! Did you drop a 1967 400 into it? It looks healthy, and had it run in the 12's in the 1/4 mile? Will it be sitting for much longer? My best friend had a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am with T-tops. He bought it brand new after making a good penny working in the oil rigs in northern Alberta. It had the 301 Turbo'd V-8. and he began altering the turbo boost and fine tuning, but it just didn't have the oats. The road handling, however, was fantastic. I drove his TA and loved it more than he did.

Those '80s Turbo's are VHTF these days, if you didn't change the oil every 1,500 miles or let them run for a minute at idle before turning it off, they grenaded pretty quick, worth some bucks in good shape with a service history, one went for about $30,000 at Barrett-Jackson this year.

Hi stuwee,

Wow, I hadn't figured one would sell for that amount. Chad would always idle the engine faithfully after a drive for about 30 seconds before shutting it off. The idling would help to circulate oil for the bearings in the turbo and cool the bearings. Otherwise, you would coke up the bearings without doing that. I do the same on my Grand National after an extended run at highway speeds.

Same with big trucks, have to idle till the pyro reads 300 deg. or less otherwise the turbos warp.

The rear end of this bird is out of a 301 turbo T/A bird. I shit canned the 3.08 gearset and worn out posi unit. Went with a Richmond 4.10 and new Auburn posi.Had C-clip eliminators installed. The whole thing was setup by pro while I was stationed in Florida.

A 9 mile GNX from last years auction, check out what Smegley Wanksalot (love that name  ) says about it in comments about half way down
Stuwee: That comment by S&W was a hoot. I just can't get past the fact, with such a car, it just sat there, unused. In my experience, both the GS and GN I bought in 2007 were destined for the same fate. Although I don't put many miles/kilometers on either, I do enjoy driving them. And I'm not a pansy-ass when it comes to showing others what Buick power is about. As much as I like car shows, I get a bigger kick by being out on the track.
