sorry lee, techie side was predominent yesterday since I was writing programs all day..
So if you have a old computer your going to use, some dont see a big hard drive so one way to over come this is to break it down into segments, ex. 6 year old computer can only see a 500gig hard drive, if you install a 1terra bite hard drive the computer will only see and use 500gig of it. but if you partiton in half the computer will see 2 500gig drives and assign the letters as C and D drive so you still have a 1tb drive but split in half as 2 500gig segments. C can D for your programs and operating system and D can be storage for all your media.
As for the sound card get the best audiophile soundcard you can afford, make sure if you put in computer it is PCI socket type, or a external sound card as USB...they make both types. Install software first then shut down machine and pull power cord out and install card internal then start comp...and it will see card and load, if USB just load software and plug in USB..USB is considered plug and play...sometimes...lol
Windows media 7 and 9, does a excellent job decoding to mp3 and also have srs sound and eq...
If you really want to try it I can guide you along the way...really simple. If you already have a computer setup you can just buy a external hard drive and plug into computer and put all your music on that, the great part about that is its not locked to that computer and you can bring to friends house and use on his computer...Dont want to confuse anyone so if any of you are confused, I can explain in more detail...with pics...
