Mark embarks on the path of complete WOPLness

Yep. I would not install anymore outputs until I had the control board installed. With one row of outputs installed it's easier to chase control board wiring problems if need be. After the power supply and the backplanes check good I would install the control board, set bias, check DC offset then continue with installing rows of outputs.

OK- That's another revision to my chain of thought, but it makes sense.

Initial powerup without control board passed, installing control board now, should I go ahead with the WattsAbundant DC board now as well?

Mark, I do at this point mainly because it's going in for sure and it makes no sense to temporarily hook up the speaker posts. It's not in the way of anything you need to finish.

Glad to see the power supply checks out...

Proceeding then...

THANKS!

%@#ℬ*!! ℥¿&∞⨙!!!

(Putting the transistors in... No easy way to do them...)

I'm calling this the practice amp before I do a 700- and the 700 has one more row of those suckkas! OY VEY!

The 700 backplanes have the ouputs soldered in...not as tight a fit..

One more:
Bias is adjusted via the TPs on the control board, NOT the TPs on the backplane boards- correct?

After bias, looks like the beast has been Full-Comp-WOPLified!

DC offset to be checked as well, what can be done if it isn't in the correct range?

Bias can be checked on either set of Test points. Dc offset should be .000 to .001 on the rev E board. -011 to -.017 for the rev D board.

And after this comes two to three hours of video editing!

Endless thanks for your help!

Very Welcome Sir.....at least while you are editing you can throw that on some speaks and be amazed...

Did you get it Mark? Are you listening yet? I'm cheering for you...I know what a fully comp WOPL 500 sounds like. Make sure you are sitting down..

Printed a label for the inside, putting the cabinet together now. Deciding which record to play...

DAMN! Forgot about my banana plugs, yada, yada, yada...

Should be flying within an hour...

Thought: My output meters will not be accurate now, will they?

Front of amp face down on the bench, great magnetic tool and a good sense of feel and they drop right in. The first 2 factors are key.
