Just a 2 TB Glyph drive between a Pro-Ject DAC and a Po-Ject Streamer. Glyph plugs into the streamer, streamer plugs into the DAC. Both are powered, Glyph draws power from the streamer via USB. Pat's old iPad controls it all through an exclusive web page. I actually don't miss the JRiver software on the computer.

It would be lit up but I'm watching the Ohio State game on TV. Will report on sound later tonight or tomorrow. It already beats a large computer monitor hogging space on the shelf.

I like the concept. I run a PC and monitor w keyboard and mouse. Sound is better when I remove the monitor from my desk as the speakers sit opposing it somewhat. I have used Foobar Con Pro in the past and that way I can play whatever I want on my PC and use an android tablet or phone for the interface. Had some trouble with it finding the PC last time I used it because I had not re installed the server side software. I need to get around to doing that. Very nice dust. That dust should feel proud sitting on that Yamaha. Yamaha Natural Sound equipment is very good in my opinion. I am guessing that tuner is a good one? Not familiar with the T-7 but I damn sure like the analog numbers and all running across like that. Damn, I just did a bit of reading on the T-7. Now I want one! Killer Tuner @Bob Boyer !

I'm thinking about using that HP mini PC as a streamer, there's a web interface plug in on github for DeadbeeF, or I could do the same thing with Kodi.

Thanks on the tuner. I found it from my local repair guy - Scott Grammer at Red Bank Vintage Audio. He has a few pieces up for sale every now and then and yes, it's a nice tuner. Maybe not a T-1 or T-2 but pretty nice nonetheless.

And on to a quick report on the sound of this rig. I think getting the computer out of the chain makes a positive difference. Subtle, but there may be a bit more open even than the jump from the Tascam to the powered Pro-Ject DAC. Listening to my Kruger Brothers album and instruments are a little more "there". Cello especially. Kenny Aranoff's tympani on John Cougar Mellencamp's Crumblin' Down - even on a file from vinyl - have the needed weight. Richard Thompson's percussive guitar on his Classics II album is in your face, dead center; Johnny Cash is right there with Rick Rubin in Cash Cabin on American IV. It's doing everything right that I can tell.

Operationally, you have to be careful if searching while something else is playing as it can easily head away from the file being played. And it would be nice to control volume from the web inteface without diving into the setup memory, but it's sure nice having the file list on a screen in my lap istead of over there on the shelf...

A+ on the setup, especially at 45% of list price.

Indeed. If there is a method, I've not found it yet but I've not played with it too much. I've tried leveling all files but the differences between Amadeus', Adobe Audition's, and my purchased file's loudness algorithms mean that things still aren't perfectly leveled and I had to adjust Media Center's volume even on the Macs. I'm not sure I have the patience to match volumes on 8,000+ files if I had the life remaining to do so.
