Having not looked at the ad recently, this may not apply, but I would list the cost of each part you put in the unit, and put a unit price of $500.00 or something....then show a total of all the upgrades aded to the unit cost...This will help a lot of people see what ALL the associated casts are...you can then list the number of hours you spent on the unit with an hourly rate....and show the unit IS a $1,500.00 piece of gear...The guy who rebuilds Altec Lansing VOT's does this, and it is very enlightening...

I thought I had saved the copy from his eBay ad, but can't find it...sorry...

Sutton, there is a reason I put on the bottom of the ad that it was my first and last e-bay posting. I do not have time to deal with F^%$#^&* Drama Queens when it comes to what I do in my spare time. I refuse to "sell" them. If someone is truly interested, join, hang, read, look, ask questions---like peachdog and fitz43. Larrt, fitz offered to take it for the 750 also. But I answered his question at e-bay way after you told peachdog it was his if he wanted. Got your back dude. If fitz is still interested I'll cut him a deal on the next B I get or build him a Series I. Got that fitz??? Was not aware Larrt made the deal before I answered your e-bay mesage. PM me. we can get something worked out.

fitz43 is the 1st to PM. It is SOLD
Congratulations to fitz43!

I had to turn my attention to other matters before retiring for the evening, so I guess I'll just have to hang around here once in a while...

I don't buy many things on eBay and never bid early. If I expect to be busy during the auction close, I'll use Auction Sniper. Several days ago I entered a snipe for this auction with a max bid I won't reveal, which I foolishly cancelled yesterday for all the wrong reasons (including thinking that if an unmodified "we don't have a way of testing it" 700B sold the day before for $410 with shipping, then surely this guaranteed WOPL labor of love would go for at least three times that amount).

Perhaps laatsch55 is right, that his listing scared some people away, but surely I'm not so unusual that it had the opposite effect on me, that it drew me in and I felt almost immediately that I could trust it and so came here to get the back story, and verified my initial impression.

Im still not real sure who ended up with this amp.... BUT... Let me say this. Whoever got this beast is in for the treat of your life... I've got one of these monsters that Lee built for me and it is the most awsome thing I've ever heard. I dont know what kind of speakers your putting on the other end of this thing but they better be good ones.... Your sure going to find out what they are made of. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT THIS AMP OR THE GUY THAT BUILT IT !!!!

peachdog, Joe continues his quest for perfection, and he makes progress every day. We can rebuild him, we have the technology, we can make him faster, stronger , more powerful...........I just need a carcass to start on......

Lee, trying to keep up with you... Joe's quest, and you can make him stronger... "Who's Joe," I thought. Obvious if I were not newly arrived in this alternate universe, but after a bit of digging I found out.

So you suggest I locate a carcass...?

PD, I'm sorry man. After speaking amongst us every day with no new members I get in the habit of assuming everyone knows what I'm talkin about, which, if the truth was known, very little. Joseph King, EE and Audio Hobbist Extrordinaire, and just plain cool Man about the Town is an engineer's engineer. A famous Joe quote( ok, not famous, but will be) " Anything can be fixed Lee". If there is something wrong, then there is something right that will make it go. We're kinda blessed here in that Joe knows an audio circuit, like ..um.....uh....everstuff. He's our "go to guy" for all things not understood, or those" God ,and Joe, just tell me enough so i don't look like an idiot" kinda things. Very personable and no pretensions ( above void if you're a liberal). He's the kind of geek that would have been as comfortable with the jocks as the tie down crowd. I've personally had him re-engineer a couple electrical apparati I use in the oilfield , and as everything else he's professional, efficient, with plenty helpings of humor, not the kind of guy that is fatiguing to be around, quite the opposite.
PD, i can get very close to that price if you can get me an enclosure with the transformer, output sockets, faceplate and meters. No need being concerned with a non-=worker as that is preferred.Less stuff to take out, and send to Ed. The tricky part, (and even moreso as the world awakens to what the PL 400's and 700's sound like after this), is getting a cherry cosmetically and trashed electronically. it's a rare occurance when one event is responsible for both conditions. Anticipating a shortage of said "rare occurances" this member has been on a mission to encourage the creative process of members past , present and future to overcome these pesky little details and find a way to get new faceplates and meters. I think we are making some progress, like cooking a great soup, a little of this guy, a little more of that guy, shake and season to taste, and out comes a solution, usually elegant in it's simplicity and ease of implementation. That's what I personally hope for this site. the collective endeavours, individually pursued and tried with constructive feedback( not top be confused with global negative feedback, which BHO does very well by himself) in a positive and encouraging way. A recipe for successful problem solving. And thank you for all those who contribute, and to all those who WILL.

What may finally be the last few entries into the Larrt's 700B saga. Gonna put in the white LED's and change out the RCA jack's as they took a hit when some company tripped over the interconnects and ruint the inside of one. Pics to come in a bit.
