Lambda Acoustics Unity Horns Anyone?

The A-7 came in many interations during its long (and continuing ) life. The version I am getting has the original, refinished and painted plywood cabinets with a horn loaded 15" 416-8A driver, which has been re-coned by Great Plains Audio, 808 8A compression drivers with 511 horns. The crossovers are the stock N501 8A crossovers. The cabinets are pretty large- 30" W 24" deep and 42" high without the horns....55 " with the horns. I know I want to have alternative crossovers, and have read a lot of material concerning crossovers for these drivers.

Great Plains makes one, but I think I want to talk with them to see what I might be able to make and mount where I could experiment, as opposed to a premade crossever with no real way to change components or bi-amp....

Oh and here is a picture...

I also think there is a chamber behind the woofer which I understnd loads the slotted bottom "throat" or "slotted port" or whatever it is.... but I've not seen, so I can't verify this...

These ARE the ones I bought, but they won't be on the East Coast for a couple of weeks. They are being driven across country to me by the person who restored them. On their way from Washington state. I will have them in a couple of weeks !@!@!

I'll second Lee's drool, you be a lucky soul getting those, I'm just guessing here but that slot might be a modified transmission line, kind of like a power port for extended bass response, using the interior cabinet for a horn.

I could be wrong. The slot is to push the bass that you lose behind the speaker to the front. Thus you are getting 100% of the bass.
