JER....I cant get over how this amp sounds...It is simply fantastic. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I am spoiled now. I want all my Phase Linear to be WOPL'ed by YOU. We have talked about the next two 700b's already...and a possible copper faced 400. I know you are working on some other projects right now, but let me know when you can do the next amp...after hearing the 400, like we talked, I'm kinda thinking the 400 is the stuff now that you have fully converted the first one, so I may just send a 400 next...so then I could have a 400 on front and rear of my system, then I'll have to send another for my 2 center channel speaks..I don't know if it will make it any easier, but they do already have all the WOPL upgrades except backplanes....but they are Rev C PCB's...

I know that there is no comparison against the amp you just completed...IT IS FABULOUS..

I bow down before THE WOLP MASTER..

Thanks Sutton... that's why I do it, and I gotta call out Lee n Joe as excellent teachers, pioneering these incredible amps! They just keep getting better and better with each new release.

Gary's 700 which stopped here to get AP'd on the way back to Gary from Jerry was as good as it gets. Sounded excellent and tested as good also!!

Lee,

How close are the results on an average 700b vs a 400? Are the FR and NOISE measurements fairly close....I just wondered, as the prior WOPL'ed 700b vs 400 I personally preferred the sound of the 400....just sounded sweeter somehow..I wondered what the numbers say...

With the backplanes and latest revision of the PCB? Was there much difference prior to Joe's latest improvements. I'm really trying to decide if I should go all in on 700B or 400....

IF I decided to further upgrade the 400's and 700b's that you upgraded, would the older PCB's be a compromise, or do I really need to replace them as well? I'd really like to get the whole stable upgraded, but I don't know about the infusion of capital....and that whole diminishing returns law stuff.....

Hell, PM me, and maybe we could talk...

If you go full comp , yes you need a new driver board. You have a fully comp 400 in your possession.....what do YOU think?

Sutton, I have a pair of fully comped 400's that I use to drive my Soniphase and Altecs for my low end. They produce all the power that I need, but a pair of 700's would shatter your eardrums IMHO

I know the fully comp 400 blows my mind...but I don't have a fully comp 700b to compare to a Rev C w/o backplanes..just trying to get a feel for a fully comp'ed and refurb'ed 700b. And Scratch, I know that a 400 is all I'll ever need...but back in the day the 400 is what you settled for when you couldn't afford a 700b.

With all Joe's innovation and the work of you, Lee, and Jer, among MANY others, the price of the 700 and 400 is pretty much the same..

I guess if Jer is still willing, I'll see if he can do the 700b and I'll find out for myself ! !

and I didn't think a WOPL could sound any better................................yeah, right..

Yeah, the cost between a 400 WOPL and a 700 WOPL is maybe 150.00 difference. Parts are DAMN close. Takes about 5-7 more hours on the 700 than the 400 is the only difference in my book...

Yeah we'll try it with a converted C, Sutt. But let me take me break - "work" work is going to demand some time over the next few weeks. We can get the parts sorted out in the meantime.

Absolutely take a break. You have to relax some...And WORK work is the one that pays the bills. We can set out on another when you are ready. NO hurry...

I finally put together the system, and synergy is the word.

A Phase Linear 3300 Series !! completely gone through by Lee. the WOPL 500 artfully done by Jer, and an Oppo DV-981HD CD player found on eBay.

I put on some Lee Ritenour and Holy shit, Batman !

Shit was coming off the walls, and the dogs went all scared and tried to hide...shaking like hell til I put them outside.

Unbelievable.

There is a resonance in the cabinets that I don't like, and they truly are the Little Brother of the KHorns, but man can the system ROCK.

Still got to have some K's.................

The Onix is still in my other system, and I was just messing around and tried the Oppo.

I'll get the Lee'ed Onix and put it in the system and see what that does..

Good idea..
