Gepetto, excellent write up. Except for untying the jumpers on the Main Board, this is what I was going to do. I don't necessarily see a problem with running both sides of the board with a common tie to the power and the power ground points. Now, if the amp had separate transformers, bridges, and cap banks, then maybe. For the front end I am thinking about floating the inputs above ground with a 2.2 Ohm resistor. I did this with my Hafler 220 and I have been very happy with it. I have often wondered why PL used a 2.7 Ohm resistor on the Right channel and a 56 Ohm resistor on the Left channel.
In order to do this I will have to cut the solid bus wire that goes from the input jacks on the back to chassis enclosure ground.
Thoughts?
