It you're on TH too...

An original owner Pioneer CT-F1250 for that price is fair. The duty and postage would kill the deal for me, but I am interested in it. For those who think a deck that old with little use is begging for trouble if you were to buy it: I have a 1976 Yamaha deck which appears to have had little use since I picked it up in June and I have been using it regularly these past few weeks without a hiccup beyond the left meter not responding well. The same goes for the Pioneer CT-F550. Both decks have been featured in threads, here.

Nando, doity is in Western Oregon...that's an item retrokeeper could easily pack over the next time he ventured towards a real brewery?

I'd honestly settle for a fixer 900/950 and some help on my 650.

Nando,I told Doity that I would buy it as long as it records.he said he would get back to me but he didn't so far.I just sent you a PM explaining everything.I don't know why he hasn't gotten back to me.He sent me an eMail that he would test it and get back to me last night.

If the deck records, you will have a reasonable deck. As an example, the Pioneer CT-F1250, which just sold at Innovative Audio, went for $425. It didn't last long on the display shelf before it was sold to a local, regular customer. The deck was fully serviced with the standard 30 day warranty. I got off work 4 hours early today and happened to see your posts and PMs first. This morning I didn't log off before heading to work, so it appeared I was active on the forum, but I wasn't.

Thank you for your reply.I am a little nervous about sending a check but I imagine it is OK.

I do trust buying from a long-standing forum member rather than someone I don't know and can't see, or test the equipment I am buying. Any of the trust-worthy members know what is expected and are more than fair in their transactions.

I haven't heard anything from him so far but I think he has trouble with his mail. He has Yahoo mail and I didn't get his message last night although he sent it. Yahoo has a lot of problems. I will wait.

Nando,Do you know when you let yourself know that you know? NEVER! There is always something to learn from everyone.

Doity just wrote to me and I will send him a Postal Money order in the morning.

So, I take it the recording trial was a success? It would be amazing to find the Pioneer CT-F1250 works well after all these years without servicing. But, it can happen. Even if you plunk down some money for a general service on it in the future, I would say you got a fair deal. There are few original-owner decks out there of that model or vintage.

Bite your tongue! There is no one here capable of fixing any decks.I have a local tech but he is better at amps than decks. I would have to go to orlando to find a tech. Doity said that it records fine. I didn't ask about the calibration mode.

May the Pioneer gods guarantee safe travel and uninterrupted operation of your newest cassette deck. It's a good thing you jumped on it, because I...

AMEN! But how many Pioneer CTF-1250s do you need? I think you have two of them. Bless You Father!

@Nando I sent Doity (Luke) a certified check EXPRESS MAIL so he would get it Monday. He will have to sign for it. I wanted him to get the cash as fast as possible. As you know Nando I have been seeking a CTF-1250 for a long time.

I have only one Pioneer CT-F1250. Would I get a second one? It would have to be a low-hour original like yours if I did.

The only problem with the Pioneer CTF-1250 is that it only has Dolby B. It doesn't have Dolby C. Consequently I will not be able to play my recordings as I have a lot in Dolby C.I don't know if I play them in Dolby B if they will sound OK. I can think of one occasion when I used the "Common" portion of my Russosound TMS-1 which allows me to dub tapes from one output of one to another input. When I did that and switched out Dolby C the sound was very distorted. When I switched in Dolby C the sound was very good and just like the original it fact it was transparent and crystal clear. It makes me wonder why when I switched in the amp on the tape deck I was copying to why it would sound distorted but inserting Dolby C it sounds OK.

Yes, for a deck of that vintage, Dolby B would have been the only choice for NR. I could try a Dolby C encoded tape on my CT-F1250 with Dolby B engaged to see what the results would be. Combining Dolby C with HX Pro has been my most preferred method of recording, lately.

Let's see if I have a few blues & rock tunes for you played back on my 1250:
