Thank you,I see you have a DBX 4x I had one but I no longer have it as you have to be very careful with it as it will distort the sound and break your speakers if you overdo it,I also had the boom box that DBX put out years ago. It multiplied the lower octaves to give a real lower bass sound,I think that you can find one on eBay if you look for one.Yes, for a deck of that vintage, Dolby B would have been the only choice for NR. I could try a Dolby C encoded tape on my CT-F1250 with Dolby B engaged to see what the results would be. Combining Dolby C with HX Pro has been my most preferred method of recording, lately.
Let's see if I have a few blues & rock tunes for you played back on my 1250:

Yes I forgot it is the 3dbx. The sub harmonic Sythesizer is nice. I think I would like mine back. I forgot what I did with it.The 3bx has to be used with caution or you could damage your speakers.I really like your speakers.Did you get them at Innovative Audio?I own Kefs and JBLs and ARs. But the ones you have must sound great. They look like high efficiency speakers.Ben: Most likely, a Dolby C encoded tape would play back better with Dolby B engaged on the playback deck. Dolby C was supposed to be backward compatible with Dolby B, but it still won't sound right.
The dbx is 3BX and I have the dbx 100 Sub Harmonic Synthesizer. It's still in its original box, unused.

Thanks Derek for your reply.I dubbed from my Onkyo 2058 to a Denon M700 using Dolby C on both decks and it came out right. BUT when I switched DolbyC off the sound was distorted. Very Strange!!I have never had dolby C play back properly between two decks. It has to be played on the same deck it was recorded on or it sounds way off. So I have stopped using dolby C period and only use dolby B if the recording has lots of quiet passages (e.g. Mannheim Steamroller).

Do you use an Auxiliary Tape Switcher like my Russosound TMS-1 to switch between the various tape decks you own? The one I have is a Passive Device and gets plugged into the tape monitor I have 2of them to accommodate my decks. I am also putting another upstairs to plug into Tape Monitor 2.My decks may not be calibrated properly, you never know with these things. No dolby is preferred, then dolby B as required for me. Dolby C works fine if played back on same deck, things may change as I get better units though.

That looks bad but you can clean them up with 91 percent alcohol but you do have some cleaning to do.It is a shame that manufacturers put out that kind of ruinous crap.

My understanding from a tech is that the 900 has better heads than the 950.Well, 950 or 900, the second has no metal tape but that's the scheme...
PS I missed the post office the last two days on your package so I have to go Monday.
