I can't find any specs to post here for you guys to help answer my question.

Thanks for the owners manual with specs! Now will someone explain to me in simplest terms possible what Signal to Noise means?

And does anyone here have one or have heard one of these and what is the opinion on their quality and reliability?

Great phono section, otherwise a piece of shot. The unit contains 14 relays and if they have not been upgraded to the sealed nitrogen units, stay away from em...

The 3300 II, 3600, and 3800 are good units. Signal to noise ratio is the difference, in decibels, between the noise floor and max output.
Used to judge how quiet and we'll built the unit is. Poorly designed and built components do not have good SNR.

Thanks!
So...explain what the numbers mean in a S/N spec sheet listing, pretend I'm really dumb. Where do you want the stated number in db to be for an excellent pre-amp? The lower the number the better, right?

The higher the number the better. I'm on the road right now, i'll explain more later...

It's a good one Michele as long as it's been serviced

Thanks!

That number is the SIGNAL, so it needs to be HIGHER, or the Noise wins.

That having been said, jam a noisy signal full of death metal and neither Beavis nor Butthead will care :blob8:

What about the 4000t?

P.L.F. and Marcov both have one of these and they have done extensive renovations to them and swear by them. I have not even had the lid up on one...

The 4000 (not the 4000t) had internal amplifiers for the surround outputs. I was looking for one of these, not for the surround, but for the holography circuit- I'd love to play around with that to see what happens. I still have an Eva-Tone Flexi Disc demonstrating the holographic effect, an old advertising promo.

I put this on my watch list just to see of this guy gets that much for this preamp...

Rev. Lee -that's hilarious! Are you speaking of the 4000t here? Any idea of the "renovations"? That part scares me since I am not capable.
