How much the Lp weighs doesn't matter much on how it will sound, like Nando mentioned. Folks issuing and re-issuing stuff on 180gm and 200gm usually have the right mastering and cutting lathes to give a nice product, always exceptions tho  , probably one of my treasures on a normal, cheap, mass produced 70's vinyl is Blood Sweat & Tears Greatest Hits. Most of these things were very poorly mastered and pressed. I can give the 'deadwax' numbers info if anyone would like to track a copy down.

In fact, it was what I played for the new owners of my Martin Logan's demo, one play of 'Spinning Wheel', the man looked at his wife's face :D and said "I'll buy them"...I cried of course...

I haven't had the opportunity to get any new 'heavy' stuff, so I can't comment really :albino:

Very few cheap new LPs any more. I have one Warren Zevon remastered reg. weight. I listened to one side. It had no life it is bad. I read about one company that had some bad remasters. They are out of the UK. I stay away from. When you research a company and you can't find a good review it is time to stay away. Most of mine have nice inner and outer liners. The liner notes are included with no LP in them. Just got Physical Graffiti for 16.00. Vinyl VG+ gate fold Mint. With inserts. Reg. weight. The Zevon one is the only remaster that I have gotten that was bad though. SO FAR. LOL

When new or re-issued LPs are getting to be close to $30, I would rather save my money and grab an exceptional used one. This past Sunday I checked my usual mini flea market downtown and found the whole works for $20. There were seven still sealed LPs, the Styx "Crystal Ball" LP in great used condition, and two portable record cases, which hold 40 records each. Key for the lock and original receipt from 1981 still in the case. I offered her $30, but she said, "No dear, you are a regular customer and you can take it all for $20." Love this town!

Nando.

It is working, a mind can be a wonderful thing to waste, have another beer, don't mind if I do. lol Just an Excitable Boy. lol

Warren Zevon was a compulsive neurotic, he and Billy Bob Thorton were good friends.

No Mark, but I have to believe the sound on those 45s must be awesome. More and more of them cropping up every day.
