I have a question about the Pics. Why the orange drops. In Nak cassette decks you try to replace them because the start causing problems. Why did you use then on your amp? I'm not a tech ; but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. LOL They may be fine I'm just wondering.

I need to go back and read this entire thread, I have a Pro 500 I have always been curious about updating and modding. Have you ever browsed on this site?
http://www.musicalconcepts.com/Haf_pwrmods.html

The larger and toridal transformer and output caps I would think have to help, but I ain't a tech of any sort, but it sure looks cool.

Yes they are, that is what holds me back. I am interested in seeing and hearing from you what you think of the improvements you are making on your 200. I might be interested if you are about looking into my 500.

Did anyone answer Speakerman's question about the orange drop capacitors? Who was that directed to anyway?

The musical concepts stuff is nice but overpriced for the components. If you want to have them install their magical parts into your amp and money is no object, then I say go for it. But when they source parts from vendors like Mouser and Digi-Key and then turn around and mark up those components 10X or even 100X retail just because they added some marketing hype that is completely questionable (how does a resistor add musicality?) then I have to raise the BS flag.

I'm just sayin'.

A resistor in your x-overs takes away from the music. I was taught less is better and if you can by without resistors then do. The orange drops do cause problems in the Nak decks. I have replaced some. It wasn't fun but I did it.

I agree, therefore I am looking at other oportunities of getting upgrades done.

I was looking at some kits for my Hafler pre. Not bad prices. Do a search for your upgrades. Well if I can find them I like my Black Gates. The Orange drops make me leery. I don't want to have to go in and redo stuff a year or two later. That is just my opinion. I was always taught you get what you pay for.

Larry, I agreed sometime back too much money for the out of cost generic mods, however if avionic can do the mods plus I would prefer him having knowing input rather than me thowing in parts as the listed mods are asking.
