I did a similar upgrade to my Hafler 220. There was no "before" test so I cannot comment on sonic changes but it has tremendous power and the large heat sinks get comfortably warm after 30 minutes of very loud guitar rock music. Just the way I like it.

This is from the "Instructions for Operation and Kit Assembly"
The DH-220 is rated at 115 Watts continuous per channel into 8 ohms between 20 Hz and 20 kHz with both channels driven. The total harmonic distortion is .0025% at 1 kHz, .007% at 10kHz, and .012 at 20 kHz. The IM distortion is rated at less than .005% from 1-115 Watts. The 3 db down frequency response is 2 Hz to 160 kHz at 1 Watt and flat from 6 Hz to 60 kHz at 115 Watts. Channel separation is 75 db at 20 Hz, 85 db at 1 kHz, and 65 db at 20 kHz. S/N is better than 100db at 115 Watts into 8 ohms. Input impedance is 47K ohms. Damping factor is 300 to 1 kHz at 8 ohms and 60 to 10 kHz into 8 ohms. Rise time at 10 kHz with a 60 V p-p square wave is 2.5 us. Slew rate at 10 kHz with a 60 V p-p square wave is 30 V / us. The original transformer uses 840 VA at full power

Because I did not replace the outputs and they tested fine, I will assume my amp meets design specs.

Mark

P. S. The outputs are SK134 and 2SJ49, a pair of each for each channel.

Hafler was bought out by the car audio guys out of Arizona. Yes there are upgrades on the amp and also on the pres. I have one I pulled out of rotation on my racks. In anticipation of a PL. LMAO.

What color is your amp? The older ones are a brownish color. They do pack a punch. The newer ones are black. Where was yours made? I am one of those people who has owned just a few pieces of Hafler gear in the past. Great rock amps.
