Graham

I'll have Deb look into it Ben, thanks. I'd love to go with Firefox but she's deadset against anything "different". Not sure if another browser would help since I can't even download from Microsoft LOL, the computer will not allow it. My firewall is only set to medium...

Turn the firewall off and see if it makes any difference.

Well, she figured something out because now we can download updates, there is over 20 of them going in now. You asled me what version it is, our browser is Windows 7 but our operating system is XP Professional. We are thinking of getting Windows 7 to install as an operating system since support for XP is gone in a few months

If you are reffering to Internet Explorer 7

That's what I meant

Hopefully in the next month or two. We have to pay for Norton as it is due for renewal in a day or two and that is for one desktop and 5 laptops. Virus protection is paramont

EDIT: Man, it's still downloading updates, I forgot there must YEARS of them since this is a fresh install of XP LOL

I got my fingers crossed

Yeah youre likely going to have to download a couple large service packs (depending on what version of XP you are running) then do all the current updates. Expect a few restarts.

I think I have previously replied to similar threads like this here. I am very reluctant to share
my methods as usually some know it all smart arse that would not know their arse from their
elbow, buts in with the usual digital is digital, and copies made on my little sisters Fisher Price
CD burner are the same as everybody else's copies.
My recordings from LP, Tape to CD are nothing short of stunning when compared to an original CD of
the same material. The recording may have some increased vinyl surface noise compared to the
original CD but every other sonic feature makes the original CD sound broken.
Start to finish from recording the LP to burning a finished copy takes some considerable time and
multiple steps. Some significant hardware and software is also required and some experience in
using the software with a very minimalist approach so as to not damage the files.
I can elaborate on how I go about my methods developed over the last 15 or so years but there
is no way I will disclose this stuff in a post open to ridicule on this forum.
I have recently had a health scare and my tolerance for Fu**witts is at an all time low
If there is interest in my methods, I am willing to share. PM me for details

I couldn't find the post that is why I asked. I hope you feel better. If you want I'll email you. I just been ripping my collection of CDs. about to go to the vinyl.

Anyone interested in a step by step description on how to make superior Digital recordings/copies.
If there is enough interest I could write a tutorial on my experiences with this hobby.
The topics could include stuff like suitable burners, PC setups, ripping practises, burning practises
media types etc. I do have a lot of experience to share If there is enough interest.

Thanks for the offer. I would be interested in reading about your experiences. Doug

IDK Ben, she's been working on it for awhile today. Can't turn the firewall off, there is no virus protection installed at the moment

There are good free antivirus apps available. I've used both paid and free. I only use the free ones now. I use either Avast or AVG. Are you behind a NAT router?

I think that there are enough of us here that would love to know some of your procedures (secrets) to getting great recordings. If someone spouts off Lee will kick their arse! :-o

Those that have been here a while have a lot of respect for you - so let it rip! BTW I hope all is well with you.

I believe he was referring to me there Nav. And he's right, I don't know my arse from my elbow that's pretty obvious from a digital stand point. As far as ridicule...... seen far worse not even called that...

Lee - just in case you didn't know this is an arse! An educational must.

And there's that subjective hearing thing again, hard to hear what the other one does even in the same room. Never seen nothing like it. It's probably caused more hard feelings than jealousy. I would love to hear your stuff Graham, could very well open my eyes to many new things...

Never been called a fuckwitt before either, have to put that one on the calender...

Thanks Nav, could you put that in digital form please??

That's just like representing a sine wave in digital format - you only get a few points on the curve. You don't want to miss any of her curve here!
