Gibsonian's Cherry Pl 700 Ser I, soon to be a PLWO-1000

One 21196 output was shorted on the right channel negative rail. We will now replace the 4.7 uf electro with a poly or poly.

Found some 250 Volt 105K's in the stash. Polypropylene. In they go. As Joe likes to say " A thermal Event occured" with the first two.

Yep sounded like small firecrackers. Now Jani's heard me short outputs and other various snaps , crackles and pops , but this was a new sound coming from the mancave and had her undivided attention until she heard the unsolicitated " I'm OK hon".

Getting crowded in there....

You got to watch the polarity on those electro's on the negative rail. The negative goes to the B- and the positive goes to ground.

Just got in. After dinner we'll get down to some serious testing.

Scott, you are getting a new Rev "C" board on me. I have ruined the traces on the CBE pads on the board, both sides. Repairs were made and it is no longer reliable. My humblest apologies.

I had some bias tranny problems with it when it was here before, and some this time and it was just too much for the traces. I figure I had soldered and desoldered that trio of pads 20 times. Just too muchj. Sorry again Scott.

Anmd the icing on the cake?? My solder sucker quit!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, when the solder sucker quits, the world comes to a screeching halt.
