FS or possibly do some trading Pioneer SX 1980

I know this has not generated much interest at this price. I am going to make one price reduction and if it does not sell on here or AK I will list on that other site. One and only price reduction to $3100.00 and I will split shipping with the buyer. Thanks for looking!

I hope you get a quick sale Trevor, very pretty one there!!! Hopefully someone on AK will grab it up since they have a bigger viewing audience. Did you post it in the AK Marketplace section also I have not checked)? That way non AK subcribers can see it and that's a pretty large audience

Ron,
Thats a good idea brother, I will post it there as well. You and I still need to get together sometime when you get caught up. I will post it in the Marketplace later this evening or
tomorrow. Talk to you soon and I hope your house is coming along!

Sorry guys and gals forgot to mention on this awesome website that price is now $3100.00 or best offer.

I hope you can complete the sale of your Pioneer SX-1980. I've seen asking prices listed as high as $5600 for reconditioned ones. And one of my favourite poses:

Nando.

Maybe I don't see it, but what makes this amp worth $3600- 5600? Its not a high end amp (still mid fi- even if TOTL in Pioneers lineup) and you can get used high end amps for much less then what these are selling for. Someone fill me in.

This is the holy grail for Pioneer collectors and monster receiver collectors in general. It is the most powerful receiver ever made by Pioneer and I can't think of another monster receiver made by any company that could touch it in sheer power and sound. They are exceedingly rare as very few people could afford one when they were in production so unlike many Pioneer products, not many were made. When working properly these monsters deliver the goods. They are a thing of beauty to boot

Well, yeah Ron...but he's already seen one or two and Nando has one IIRC?

Nando has a 140 mph street legal Buick though...

The Padre simply has it going on, don't he?

Nando what a pair! Do you still have them or did you get rid of them. I have two as well, hence getting rid of one. Is that your shop in the background? Sorry still getting to know the people here.

Trevor, only one is Nandos IIRC, that is a local repair shop he frequents, they always have killer stuff kicking around or are repairing for customers. I forgot what the place is called

I think Technics might have made a bigger receiver. Not by much though.

Innovative Audio British Columbia Canada. I wanna say Surrey, but im not positive on that.

Pff exchange rate is luda right now.

Yeah thats the one.

But of COURSE! You guys bought all our crap in the seventies and 80s and now it's payback time :albino:

Trevor: I meant to respond earlier, but it's good to see Ron, Ben, and Dennis have been able to answer some of your questions, already. They truly do know me well.

Regarding the photo I posted, my Pioneer SX-1980 is the one on the left. The other one was just coming into the shop, Innovative Audio, for restorative work. Gordon, the owner of the store, took the photo. I'm glad he did because it's one I will long remember. Perhaps, I could post more about it, later on. I sold a few of my vintage stereo pieces, on consignment at Innovative Audio, to collect enough money together to get the SX-1980. I bet there's not too many shops that would do that kind of deal. I am the second owner of the big Pioneer receiver. It had been used, for a number of years, to power a pair of JBLs in a "cabin." I got a great deal on the initial price for the receiver, before the restoration, then it went through a thorough electronic upgrade to better than factory-stock. I opted for the ice-blue LED light conversion for the back lighting. Looks great lit up.

As an example of this receiver's powerful sound delivery, it bested a Sansui G-33000 ( 300 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms) that was in for a rebuild not long after mine was done. I have a picture of the Sansui behemoth.

I had to laugh - but it's true - the combined weight of both receivers are within 7 pounds of my own weight.

Nando.
