Esoteric Sound i believe is a USA company ..Esoteric is a Japan companyDunno Mark this look like it has a hefty price tag.
Absolutely, much greater revenue for the company...Would there be any real advantages over a good direct drive turntable?
IF the platter is as massive as shown, I would expect rock-steady speed, possibly still rotating a half-hour after turning it off!Would there be any real advantages over a good direct drive turntable?
Exaggerating about the half hour, but that does look like a huge rotating mass.Well, it’s mag lev but guided by a spindle to keep it in place, so it won’t run for a half hour.
But it should rain a while if the motor is not too close slowing it down.
Around the circumference of the platter…On the motor spindle?
It is like those magnetically coupled fish tank pumps, no direct coupling. The damping factor sucks in that turntable setup. If you have a torque disturbance of any kind, it will take a long time for the control loop, if any, to counteract it.Iron there for the magnets to push (pull)
My brewing pump as well as my oil burner both use that design. No contamination risk from seal or trapped material in brewing and no risk of seal damage from unknown substances in the waste oil in my boiler. Some solvents will eat seals for breakfast. Learned the hard way. I burn most any liquid that is flammable (EXCEPT GASOLINE) or other low flashpoint fluids unless fully blended with heavy oil. I don't like the BOOM!
