That black one needs black knobs and handles. Maybe a matte black on gloss black thing happening.

How about making the entire face plate of thick lexan, printed on the inside and then painted black over the printing… that would look sick.

I’ve tried the all black look and it’s not for me. Stainless handles and chrome knobs are just the right amount of bling IMHO.

if you note as I think you have there is a layer of smoked margaurd lexan between the face plate and the meters Maybe I’ll give the lexan only a try.

So with the new amp in place, and I must say becoming a my new standard, I started to add the new improvements to my black beauty. I have gone about to add a soft start circuit which was put in the other one. As discussed may times in other threads that soft starts are not required I have to argue that in this unit using 35,000 main caps that it is a great addition. Before installing this the amp would grown on start up. Now it’s quite easy. Here is some shots from a video of the actual surg with it installed. Quit suttle I’d say.
first and last ,blown up photo, are initial power on
second under first loading
third just before relay kicks in - maybe 1/2 second in
fourth load after relay kicks in - 1 second in
load after full charge - about 1-1/2 seconds

What a Monster Amp, great thread! What wattage does the 500 go up to after its WOPLed? Seems that Pink Floyd used these Amps also along with the 400 and 700, also a great read.
