The solder cups for the output transistors on the backplane really don't look like the assembly pictures. If you insert from the solder side, and solder from the silkscreen side as per the directions, there is nothing to solder since they do not stick out of the board far enough to get some heat transfer. Any insight Joe, Lee or Ron? I am getting good flow through to the other side though.

With the solder cups inserted all the way from the foil side ( or chassis side when installed) there is between1/16 and 1/32nd inch sticking out of the silkscreen side and they are soldered on the silkscreen side only....Do you have the assembly notes?

I sent an e-mail with the 400 assembly notes. It has some really good pics of the process....

Pretty much finished building the circuit boards. I will start assembling the chassis tomorrow. Lots of wires to string. Pics will follow some time in the next 24 hours. Joe is busy right now putting kit #2 together. My wallet is getting thin.

Take your time Perry and double check everything. Double checking will pay dividends in a smooth bring up.

Understood.... This weekend I'll go over all the solder joints with a magnifying glass and double check the resistor codes against the BOM. It has been a little hairy actually building one from pretty much scratch while the directions are really geared for the guys rebuilding an existing unit. And, cleaning "No Clean" flux off the boards is no fun. I couldn't imagine leaving all that trash on a new board. Spent several hours doing that and I still need to do a Q-tip inspection/touchup.....

True dat....but when doing the backplanes too, most of the new wiring is hanging on the boards then anyway. Easier to do all new wiring when you get that far into it...

Yeah, the back plane was pretty straight forward. No "Full Comp" "Quasi Comp" to deal with. I had 2 different size resistors for one spot on the control board that I had to go straighten out but after I understood what was going on, no issues after that.
