You'll have find some music that can be played just above whisper level. [definitely NOT rock! … and not necessarily Classical either!]
You won't believe the detail then.
Especially if you're playing it against the dead quiet of night. <script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/6f136b72/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>
Mannheim Steamroller sounds good, but when the bass kicks in its hard to resist turning the volume up.

What the hell, might as well play the whole Garbage Self Titled album, that was a great purchase for me back in 1996 =) Just finished high school. I'm surprised the disc has survived all that I put it through, quite a bit of djing and drunk nights with cds falling on the concrete, those were the days! Mp3s had only just come out and my PC was only just powerful enough to play them in MONO.

With such power comes great responsibility D2.
Now that u'v cranked it up, EVERYBODY in ur whole block now knows u have desirable treasures.
Do it too many times, and u'll be pinpointed and eventually targeted.
Be aware of ur neighbours. If stuff is vibrating about in ur place, u can bet shit is gonna start hitting the deck in ur neighbours places, and not just next door, but all around.
I know u'r having a bit of fun now, but look at it from 'next door's' perspective.
Pick ur slots carefully, and don't aggravate anyone, as it's gonna be only too easy to do now.
It's not always about volume.
It might sound great in ur place when u'r looking for THAT threshold, but it's gonna sound like shit to people in other places like next door.
It's something to be very serious about.
…. or next trip to the shop, when u get back, it'll all be gone!

Thanks for the advice George. I will be taking the amp with me tomorrow, as christmas day is a very very risky day, many burglaries happen on this day because thieves know people are away celebrating christmas. Any advice on times of the day that are good for volume? there are these tennants in the unit block next to me who make A LOT of noise with their crappy sound system, quite frequently, they are much closer to the road than I am.

Fortunately I have a fairly sound proof unit that is on the end and away from most of the other units, and my neighbor is cool about it, I have already laid down the law to him, he tells NO ONE about this amp. But I'm not sure about him, I think he has a big mouth. I am yet to crank it up and go outside to see how far the sound travels.

When I mentioned those tennants who are making noise, we are talking an entirely separate unit block, right close to the road.

Have you had any issues when you crank your system up in the past? Like people trying to break in etc? What safe guards do you take?

Only advice I have is, use a bit of common sense.

If I had the money, I'd get the fuck out of this place, but I don't. Its something I can only hope will happen, and move to a place on some land away from everyone else.

I've had a pretty good run in this place the last 5 years when it comes to noise. No complaints or anything. When my friend tim comes over, we have cranked the shit out of my pioneer amps and made a hell of a racket till late, then there's the microphone, that gets a bit hairy when my friend gets drunk, then screams and farts into the microphone LMFAO!

Broken beyond repair but highly affable
Not really...oddly enough, my washing machine makes more racket in an unbalanced spin cycle.

I just realized it was WOPLed.

I got a direct drive fisher and paykel washing machine from 1997, I swear by that unit, it NEVER fails me. No wonder they put a 10 year guarantee on the motor, its a beast! (and it was free) had to fix the thing that lets the water in, just swapped it with the hot water inlet (which I dont use).

I most strongly recommend you NEVER try any microphones hooked up to ur WOPL…..

Yeah, his farts are pretty powerful through the microphone, hmmmm maybe we could hook up my old auditone 12 inch woofers for that exercise? LMFAO!

Sorry D2, but I just don't see the point of VIDEOing a SOUND system, or am I missing something? :sad7:
