Clair Bros Amp

He was just listening to you LMAO!!!!

try the Lightening Bolt WOPL 1000 for a hair lifting experience today

Clair probably opted not to order them. These amps were tools and the covers were unnecessary. With the amps mounted in racks, the backs were inaccessible and not a hazard to the technicians maintaining them. Plus cooling the amps was aided by being naked

The collector is tied to the case for heat dissipation AND it is tied to the rail voltage - hence the shock. That is why the heat sink material must conduct heat but also provide electrical isolation between the case and chassis. Be careful where you put your fingers. :confused1:

if it is normal, I will not worry about it, but will make sure to put a guard around it when I use it to keep kitty noses off

It is normal. If your cat can get its head in between the heat sink fins, he is a pretty tricky cat :-)

Make sure the guard isn't metal and touches the output cases and the heatsinks or chassis, bad things will happen....

Seems like a good way to keep those heat seekers off of the top of an amplifier. Kitty might get it once, but that'll be about it. They won't like it!

I have just discovered that my amp does have a problem, somehow I do not think that the output transistors should give me a 120 volt AC shock when I touch them so something is leaking AC but it is not making it to the speakers because there is no hum at all

DAYUM! 120VAC feeding into a speaker would make one HELL of a hum!

Don't know if anybody paid any attention to my post down below, but all the parts/repair/trade units are gone. I have the string of consecutive serial numbered Clair amps left and I will be offering restored/reworked Clair 700 Amps in the coming months. I appreciate all the interest in these war wounded amps. Anybody who missed getting one (or two), I'm sorry, wished there were more to offer. I have 16 left with strings of 2-5 consecutive serial numbers left and they are earmarked for life saving class. I still may consider a serious offer but.......

Just posting to let everyone know since I'm getting requests still.

Perry

I am not surprised Perry, since I posted about one on AK, people have been blowing up my message box asking if I can get them one. I just mentioned that fully restored versions will be available in a few months to those that asked and if they wanted more info, to contact me

Eric posted his and Navo posted pics of his pair, I think that lit the fire on these even though he did not include a babe, these do not need the added fluff, they speak for themselves

Sorry broham, you said to put feelers out LOL

Sent you a message BTW

I was tempted to post another nice pair photo set to complement the Clair Brothers pair, butt it is AK and they'd kick my ass. I'm sure that Ron will get buyers lined up for your upgraded amps Perry as these are keepers.
