Which Teac do you have that is down- I think I know a guy who can fix it.

???? I have two, the RtR is a A-3340 quad deck, saved from a dumpster at a local radio station, power cord is cut, worked fine before it was deemed out-dated and dumped.

Then my V-8000S cassette deck we've talked about. There's a Rabbi down here from AK that knows Teac decks very well, since this monsterRtR weighs ton and a half, I'll trust him to fix it up soon,

Sam, I know ya said you've never seen a V-8000S, many techs haven't, I'll trust ya to fix that capistan problem she seems to be having , ie; munching tapes...

OK,
I took in three yesterday and one was a A3340S the other a A3440 and then a A77. There doesn't seem to be an end of work for this unemployed guy of better than 2 years. It makes me think if I should go out and get a new job and pay all those taxes. My house is getting too small as too much equipment is here- time to stop typing and get back on the bench, I usually stop at 2AM.

Wow. Thank you guys so very much for the presents. Fixing to load the reel now. Tomorrow I'll go pull a different tape deck in and try to record some music on the cassettes Steven. My 5030 isnt working properly. Tried recording on it a couple of days ago and sounded like crap. Had to turn record level all the way up and then way too much tape hiss. Gonna have to get it repaired. Again thanks everyone. What a great surprise. Being the new guy and all. Also got a new cd player coming, well new to me Marantz cd30. Unhooked my 300disc changer the other day. Gonna move it to the Kenwood in the living room.

Would you like to take in another two or three. Mainly I have my Marantz 5030 needs work . Its not recording properly. Have to turn rec levels all the way up and then you get too much hiss. I could try deoxit'ing the controls. Dont know that it'd help. Also have two or three others that need belts.

Try rocking the rec/play switch and cleaning it with canned air as well, the whole board. You might have dust buildup in the ICs and such limiting current.

It WILL get in there, trust me...

Stu, I'd give Sam a shot first. Every time I contact the Rabbi he's 9-12 months out.

Thank you Scorpion8!

Here's proof that your package arrived...

MVC-002F.jpg Thanks!

It was very nice to be in a position to give back to you guys. We have a great bunch here ands I enjoy the shit out of it. I had bought the RTR's last summer for Steven and then he said "No" those are Christmas presents. After getting them I had never seen used tapes so well taken care of. I thought they were a bargain at 13.00 each. Enjoy fellers!!

Thanks Guys!

The package of tapes and CD's arrived this afternoon, very nice. What a great group of folks here. I currently have the oldies Christmas CD shaking the house!

Merry Christmas All,
Robert

I'll send him one later, I had something else I was working on for some folks that was interrupted and I'm out of bread now having sent stuff to three continents :) I sent cards and such to nearly every friend and person I did business with on eBay and forums this last year. Lee will help me then probably but I can't say what I'm doing because it was going to be a Christmas surprise to start with and I just got caught up with everything almost.

I almost died last July. I'm a tired little f@rt. :happy8:

Thanks think i will give that a try. It is recording though, just poorly. It does playback well.

That's why I suggested cleaning the board. It sounds like something is blocking the signal, if not a bad part.

Such A Nice Gift!

Hi all,

I received my Christmas package this afternoon from the Post Office. Actually, I received two packages, as the other parcel contained an open-reel Supertramp demo tape I lent Robert, plus he enclosed a mix tape he recorded for me onto a 7" reel. That's mighty kind of you, Robert, and I'll be sure to get an open reel mix tape recorded for you in the New Year in appreciation of your generosity. There looks to be some good tunes on this tape, so I'm looking forward to hearing it.

I have to thank Lee and Steven for spearheading this community-minded gesture. It's such a nice way to cap off the year, and it has been great to hold a membership in a forum that really cares beyond the audio talk confined to these pages. This Maxell tape, as Lee has said, is no finer had it been brand-new. It's obviious by the care and attention to detail to the tape box insert, that someone took great effort to do a proper job, and took pride in this project. Most likely, I won't re-record over it. I want to hear the songs, as these aren't the songs I'm accustomed to listening to, and I'm sure I'll enjoy most of the classical pieces over a brandy.

The blank cassettes Steven included for this recording session is a neat idea, and I hope other members will provide feedback of their findings. The Christmas music CDs will be played through the holidays, as I usually, maintain that family tradition of having festive music while entertaining or baking. I hope to listen to and view the "Iceberg" CD, shortly.

Thanks once again for such comraderie, and I hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday season!

Nando.

I may consider buying a few from you, Lee, next month, if you still have any left.
