Chris's Spec 2 restoration

Not, it didn't ;last. No work today. We are headed out to scatter Levi's ashes in the Sunlight Basin near Yellowstone Nat'l Park. It was one of his favorite places. Now maybe Jani can get some "Closure" on this.
 
That' just it Dave, no confrontation here, and if there is it won't last long.

It wasn't in to bad of shape, just some tired drivers.

Iknow that. Sulphonation in the classic sense doesn't apply but it's similiar enough to get an idea. It's like corrosion and eletrolysis combined.

Galvanic corrosion? When two dissimilar metals are in contact with each other..Just add a little moisture.

Thats not quite what I meant.He just isn't a computer savvy person and feels intimedated by the keyboard.
I've tried to get him to at least register with AK. That didn't work. I think he is just paranoid and selfcontious about his own communication skills.
 
Well damn, he talks well, it doesn't translate on the keyboard then?
 
Right amp board done. Finally got back to the house at 6 PM tonight, I'm glad this weekend is over. Won't take long to do the left.

Amp modules ready to go. All we have left is the Power Supply caps and put it back together. We'll be testing this afternoon.

Unwrapping the wires going to the caps. Coukd someone explain why wirewrapping is better than soldering??

It is not necessarily better Lee, just different. I use wire wrap for all my test fixtures and prototypes because it is easy, fast and I can achieve high density using it. It also allows changes to be made easily and neatly. I use 26AWG for power connections and 30AWG for all signal wiring.

The earliest computer backplanes were all wirewrap to allow high density, low crosstalk and it was easy to make engineering change orders. It is also very reliable.
 
Does solid wire get brittle after 30 years ? That's my only gripe with it. So, you must have wire wrap tools.
 
Big caps in. Had to install ring terminals, looks pretty good. Not long now.

Lee about the brittleness. I have rewired houses built in the 20s and 30s. The copper was still soft. The big words sort of hard for me to spell. So I will leave that part alone. LOL
