It's called getting a new provider, and if you read the story on the tabloid ISP Yahoo...you may need a small insurgent force *but then again, we probably have one here already :thin:

Where's Sep?? Kinda miss his comments...
I think he is busy with his work, but I'm sure he will feel sad about missing all the fun in here....

(b.t.w: The Netherlands is well known about having the fastest internet in the world, so I'm glad I'm still here...)

I stuck with the phone company, Centurylink, and I've got about 4 years on this unlimited LD/internet plan, have international calling and the whole ten yards.

I could care less about cable TV and I pay less than you do for what I got.

Ubee? I've got 3 Actiontecs in backup.

Yeah well DSL would seem like dial up to me. Once you get faster access you will never want to go backward.

I like my cable cause it is much less expensive the Direct TV or Dish Network. I don't watch that much but HD over the air would be a royal pain.

Have you ever looked up the signal paths available in your area?

There are four signals on Idaho PTV alone and three on OPB (13.3 is the three audio services with a slideshow), two on 2 (CBS and CW), three on 6 (ABC, Untamed Sports and Heartland-the former TNN), 3 on 7 (NBC, 24/7 news and variety and NWCN regional news and programming from Seattle, Portland, Spokane and Boise), Fox 9 and LiveWell Network on 9, This, That and Me on KTRV 12, KYUU 35.1 (that CW station co-owned with the CBS 2), a few smaller stations including KKJB 39.1-39.4 (only 39.1 is active and leased right now)...at least 22 I used to be able to get all of and at one time nearly 30.

Our original cable system was only 22 channels.

Can you supply the answer here?
Sure, you and Lee pay 'tention. You know how you have two plastic thingies on the near end of the cable? You need the splitter - don't mess with it. The preceding thingy is just a junction box - if you open it up, you will that it just makes a connection. Cut it off, throw it away, and being careful to have the correct wires in the correct place, solder the connection. At the far end, the grey box on the side of the house, do the same thing. Take the wires off the screw terminals and solder them. Simple, but you should notice an increase in speed right away. Over time, as oxidation would have set in, you should be more and more ahead of the game. Also, keep the phone line from the splitter to the modem AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE. Mine was like three inches long, and it doesn't hurt to keep the DSL line as short as possible too. That's very basic, and yeah, I've 'splained it on Phoenix before...

BTW, Fitz, is that you on that Segway?

My POTS-splitter is mounted in the protector box mounted on the side of the house. Direct line from there to the modem jack. No requirement for DSL filters on any phone line in the house. When I get back there, I'll take a picture of it.

Yes, that is me on the Segway.

I doubt my Siemens box outside is that complicated. I get hiss period and use the filter in the bedroom. I have a conduit between the two bedrooms (master and storage/bench) and can run cat line from the living room so I'm good other than that and the gateway automatically filters the line out to the telephone line so the cordless base and extensions are clear.

No, I get all the alternate channels for the networks too. I use the cable to get my internet and for a bunch of stations that are not available over the air. I get more than 20 channels, what I should have said is I get 20 channels that I watch.

I wish I had 20 channels that I watch. There are maybe 5 channels that I watch here. We pay for about 60 channels. Not sure why I get south asian news, or punjabi news. Seems typical though to have to buy a 60 channel package to get a few that we actually watch. The next lowest package comes with less than 30 channels, and would give me 1 or 2 that I would actually watch....Booo
