I enjoy making a pile of sawdust from time to time and my woodworking skills are just enough that I'm able to make anything as long as you like the rustic look. I'll end up painting these cabinets - staining is out of the question due to imperfections in the cabinets. Veneering would be an option - I've done it in the past, but it's more time, money, effort than I'm willing to spend.

IS that 3/4" plywood? Massive cabinets are keys to good performance. If you want to go next level, line the insides with lead foil (car stereo dampening sheets) Another tip, instead of poly fill, shred up wool sweaters from Goodwill.

It is 3/4" birch plywood. Thanks for the tips. I bought the flat pack kit from Speaker Hardwood: https://www.speakerhardware.com/philharmonic-bmr-flat-pack.php, but had lots of issues with it, mostly due to mis-cut pieces. All was made right in the end when they sent new, properly cut sides, front, and brace (nearly everything). Assembly is biscuits, pocket screws, and glue. Cabinets are uber strong.

I bought some Fractal BMR drivers to play with a few years back, they’re pretty neat but have peaky treble response if used as full range. The itty bitty ones I got ended up in a homemade sound bar at my grandparents house and work well for that
