My Ohm Is don't know what they have coming, they have a spec of 1,000 watts max, but I have also heard they can handle more. However all of the components in them are pushing 40 years old. I did replace the woofers this year with Ohm rebuilds, very impressed that the company still supports a 40 year old product.

So far she sounds as good as she looks!

I think handles are in the future, blown the budget on the rebuild, why not a few more dollars.

Yeah.....

On Ohm's customer service. I had bought my Model F's new in the late 70's and I had managed to explode the voice coils. I was heavy into the dope back then and when totally gacked out one night , took my exacto knife and dissected the drivers, down to it's elementary components. And for a joke shipped em to the factory and forgot about em. About three weeks later I got a brand new pair delivered to the house with a little note that said..." Please accept our apologies Mr. Laatsch, as your set of Ohm Model "F"'s was shipped with 5 amp fuses when they should have had 4 amp fuses. Enjoy" I think it was signed by Sidney Polk. I never dreamed in a million years that would happen......

Think I had some junk 10 amp fuses, because on cold start-up the fuse would blow, I measured the turn-on current and it has not exceeded 6 amps peak, bought some fresh 10 amp fuses and it seems fine, I will wait for an overnight rest and verify all is well tomorrow morning.

After some high power listening I have one word for this amp effortless. The highs are as clear as ever and the base hits with such speed it is like the amp is barley breaking a sweat.

It is getting a workout cause I tripped one of the thermal sensors, 4 ohm load, turned the fan to high, seems stable now.

Album of choice Digital copy of Pink Floyd remastered the Wall from iPad.

Fondler errrr... fan of all Nav's avatars
Reading a thread like this is always a pleasure. When folks come together that share their build knowledge so the next WOPL can be born

I'll get the WOPL 1000 insert in the mail Monday. Got back from the road trip last night and we're cleaning up the mess in the toyhauler. Glad to be home. I'm going to try out this Analyzer on this PL200 amp I got sitting here. Don't know if it works or not....

After a couple of weeks with the WOPL 1000 I can say it sounds as good at low volume as high volume. With the volume of my SX-950 half way up the amp seems like it has plenty more to go, still effortless.

With a 4 ohm load from the Ohm model I speakers it does get warm and will shutdown after three or four songs at obnoxiously loud levels. I have a fan behind it, but it is just a personal desk fan and does not deliver the CFMs the amp requires.

To save the on/off switch I am using a smart outlet strip to turn the amp on and off, however it could use a dedicated 20 amp outlet as the display LEDs do dim a bit when the bass hits.

Very happy with the amp, only regret is that the project is over, next project...I may add a WOPL control board to my PL400. The PL400 already has the DCP board and Whiteoak LED board.
