What is the order of the upper hardware. I saw the order on the BOD step 11, but did not see how to attach the boards

6-32 screw
lock wasker
chassis
lock washer
standoff
?
?
The misc hardware kit contains #6 nylon washers and #6 flat washers. Use the socket head screws that came with the kit that are used for the purpose of attaching the transistors temporarily with a steel flat washer and a nylon washer in the diagonal corner of each backplane board. It only takes 2 to temporarily tack in the board to complete your wiring activities.

Understand?

Got it thanks, the backplanes are in, they look, good, secured with the top mounts and aligned using a couple of output transistor screws.

Starting on the rectifier wiring and AC wiring.

Going to leave the wires for the switch in a loop so I can bring the amp up without the faceplate.

I need to pick up some bare #10 ring terminals for the DC connections to the capacitors.

Going well, I guess I just needed to start assembly, take it slow and ask questions.

I have been reading through this thread... sounds like you are building a new one from scratch with a few parts from an old one??

That about sums it up. I am keeping from the original 700B

Transformer
Meters
front switches and knobs (volume, on-off, etc)
bias transistor clamps
input bypass switch
Heat sink fins
Fan AC receptical
Bulk CAPs ground bar
output covers

I think that's it, everything else will be new, sounds like I got lucky and grabbed the last new 700B faceplate also.

Wait until you can do some proper AC/DC testing on it, and I mean Highway To Hell.

Finished the AC and DC wiring tonight, powered up with just the main fuse and a dim bulb tester. No issues, +- 97.2 volts with dim bulb, +- 108 volts under normal conditions.

I ended up using thermostats from Amazon they are just a bit larger than the originals, they need to go onto the chassis before the back plane boards. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MU1WOS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What did you use for a wiring guide? I think the directions in Joes kit has the B+ (your red wire on the right backplane) should go to the left backplane B+, it keeps the big wad of wires off the Cap screw, same with the B-. Double check against Joes wiring scheme. And you gotta get some of that flux and shit off the board, It could cause you a lot of problems down the road. That's why I said in my prior post... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN....

I did notice that I missed the daisy chain on the un-fused wire between the boards, not a big deal, both wires are tied into one lug on the Caps.

I will clean the boards before things go much further, thanks for checking things over.

done correctly, it should look like this only better. It takes a lot of practice to get it right. The result should be as such that you wouldn't be embarrassed too bad if somebody opened it up.

Control board installed, first row of transistors in.

Right channel had good bias, left channel no bias.

Quick check and there is no plus or minus "un-fused" voltage to the control board, I blew the two on-board fuses F1 and F2 on the left back plane board. Pretty sure I blew the fuses when I was stripping the control board wires before attaching them to the control board. There were no chassis fuses nor any outputs installed at this time, and half way through I did discharge the bulk Caps, so I hope I will be OK.

FYI the bulk CAPs will hold power for days without the fuses installed.....

I do have a 1K ohm 20 watt resistor for discharging the caps, but didn't use it, stupid stupid.

I bypassed the fuses one at a time and my temp fuses did not blow. Going to replace the fuses before I proceed any further.

Getting close to finishing
