Another Nice Acurus RL 11 Pre on the bay

Sooner or later a bargain will pop up....the lack of a phono stage will keep the price down for awhile Ima thinkin....
 
Been so busy that I haven't even turned on the turntable. I'll probably spring for a decent Phono Pre when I bring in the RL-11 out of the Shack in the next few weeks. I didn't mind spending a few extra dollars for a primo example of the RL-11. I try to buy the best I can afford, to me settling is a waste. I'd end up replacing the substandard units anyway so I just saved till I could get what I wanted. The spread of a good unit to a very nice unit is only about a hundred bucks or so.
 
$225 each! TWO Acurus RL-11 CL posting, hidden with other equip. I stumbled across this today. Look down to the 6th paragraph. Two RL-11's in Boulder, CO at $225 each. Taking a chance on a CL ad but if you have connections in Boulder, might be a screaming deal. Posted 18 days ago and no mention of a remote control.

He said he had already had several calls about them. I'd say we are out ! Especially if someone close wants them... so he doesn't have to ship. But.. Sutton told him he could dump both to one address with one payment. Time will tell.

Just for he-haws I contacted the guy with the RL-11's and offered to buy for over his pricing (with full intent on turning them over to you guys). Just heard back from him advising they have been sold. I hope you got them!

Yes, I think we bought them.

I paid for them, at least, and have a 22 pound box coming from Boulder.

They ended up costing more than the listed price.

With UPS shipping and insurance we ended up paying $525 for the two of them.

I hope they are nice.

I have only seen the picture of one of them, so who knows.

Kevin and I will find out next Thursday when the box arrives.

I have no idea on the remotes.

I asked him, and never really got an answer.

I doubt they are there, as he listed the amps and the power cords on the UPS information, but no remotes... I have no idea what will show up.

I hope they are not in terrible condition and hope they both work. I thought we were lucky to get them. I'm sure I was a pest with the seller. I tried to stay in touch with him (he was out of town) and let him know I was serious and would pay when he told me how he wanted to get the money...and also told him I would sweeten the deal if needed to secure them.

Hopefully we will be happy campers after they arrive.

I really need a great phono section now...and wish I could get this MC thing out of my system...(not my sound system)

I am wondering if I am missing anything. I LOVE my Acutex cartridges, but wonder what the whole MC thing is all about..and if I am missing anything...

So, should I get a Parks Audio Budgie? And one of his Cinemag SUTs?
 
Parks has some nice stuff. Great reviews but never heard the stuff myself. Not sure if you are nearing point of diminishing value for the $. MC cartridges same thing, depends on what you're trying to reach.

I really feel the Acurus is going to wow you. May not feel the need for spending the bucks for Parks and MC.

I believe the Cambridge Audio Azur 651P (MM MC and subsonic filter) works well, should be able to pick one up for <$150. Didn't taint the Acurus at all.
