Like they say down in the deep south where I am from "hold my beer and watch this..."

But I hope that I have a relatively smooth journey but I know there will be some bumps in the road along the way.

Some notes from today's progress.

Continued assembling the control board and when I got to the TO-92s I couldn't find my little transistor lead heat sink (you know, the little pliers looking thing made out of aluminum) so I had to MacGyver something out of aluminum foil (or was I being too cautious?) as you don't find that shit around these parts!!!


Finally got the board assembled but I still need to clean it and put the heat sinks on the TO-92s.





I started on the backplanes, put the socket cups in the board. I used a piece of wood and some spring clamps to hold them in place when I soldered them.






Now it's off to lala land to catch a few zzz's, leave you with something to take your mind off of electronics...

I thought the TO-92s came with little heat sinks, at least some of them did on mine. I put them on and then soldered the devices. I also used a hot iron and moved quickly

The TO-92s are quite rugged. I normally snug them down to the board where the lead flare stops them. Be careful installing the heatsinks with the long leads that you have on those TO-92s, you don't want the leads to buckle when you are putting pressure on them.

You missed 2 solder joints on the bottom of the control PCB (circled in Red). You apparently placed the -15V test point and did not solder.

Post a second picture of the control board after you thoroughly clean and inspect for solder balls and debris.

These are just two examples of why I inspect all my circuit boards under a 100X digital microscope.

The TO-92s are quite rugged. I normally snug them down to the board where the lead flare stops them. Be careful installing the heatsinks with the long leads that you have on those TO-92s, you don't want the leads to buckle when you are putting pressure on them.

I was thinking about easing the heat sinks on with a pair of curved needle nose pliers so I don't put any undue compressive forces on the leads
