Thanks Lee, if you talk to Ed would you ask if he may have a nice upper aluminum faceplate for the cassette player.
This is the smaller one above the door. This ones pretty rough.
I will tear into this deeper and see what melted down. can't see it from just removing the top cover. The whole front
end needs to be removed to get to the belts etc. I'll will track down a service manual.

Oh also Lee would you also ask Ed if he has service manuals (schematics mainly) for these full comp amps.
Thanks Lee
Check with Rick.....I know he has some. Do you have the service manual??

Gorgeous looking oxide dragger, fo sho! Any chance for some pics?
Hello Doug. Thanks for the link buddy to the 7000. I wish mine was that clean. If I can't bring back the faceplates to a presentable look,I just can't justify the expense of repair, so I may hotrod this baby.

If I can get a hold of my wifes cell, I'll try to get some pics. I need to do this so I'll be ready when it comes times to post
pics and shit of a thousand and one questions I'll have on getting some of this PL up and running.

Broken beyond repair but highly affable
Yes they are Ron. Amazing piece of work. I just hope I can find a better front upper piece or I'm going to have to
mill a tad off the edge to get rid of this nasty edge ding. If I cannot justify fixing this beast, I will remove the insides,
and install a cd player behind the drop down door.
Oh dear GOD, no. NOT THAT

Make a damned aquarium from a console TV, put a jet engine in a PINTO...

You see, I have so many home taped and pre-recorded cassettes ALONE I haven't got enough proper storage for them.

Now you know why finishing my vintage Pioneer cassette deck collection has been so IMPORTANT to me!

Don't destroy a perfectly good broken deck.

Honestly.

Lots of folks here and elsewhere on the wide, wide world of web that can help and hopefully it won't come to that for you. Great to revive these rare decks.

Hey I totally understand what you guys are saying believe me. (Yes Steven I did read you PM also.) I was bummed when
I saw the sad condition of this rare unit. I have wanted one for many years. but this one is wounded bad! You know
how hard it is to remove a big gouge on the leading edge of a piece of aluminum? Not going to happen. And there are many deep
scratches in the brushed aluminum. Its painful just looking at it, knowing it should have never been treated this way by
the past owner(s).
I have been restoring vintage autos half of my lifetime and know when one is nice enough to leave alone, restore or part it out. I think so far this one is a good parts unit if I cannot find the pieces it needs. No worries guys, one thing I learned in
working on old vintage cars: "Do no harm".

I don't even consider that a deadly fault, just sad as I must be the leader of the Island Of Misfit Toys.

What you can't find can be built...I am reminded of this lone existing antique automobile that was recently restored to as-new condition, without so much as a SERVICE MANUAL or PLANS!

Mike.....tracking numbers on the 700 and 200.....

Fed-Ex....700---790061315916, 200---790061316165...

Ken was going to call Ed about the shippinh box for the 8000. I was going to call Ed later in the day about some other things so I'll be sure and ask him about this.
Hi Lee. Three pieces showed up today. The 200 amp, the 3000 preamp (from you) and the
700 in the cabbage case.
The reason I didn't see any movement on the cabbage case was it was assigned another number. #790054123972

The 790061315916 which we thought was the 700 is still dead but entered as a 72 lb weight.??

The only piece left is the TT.

I'll open them all soon. Where is the cabbage case off to now?

cheers,
mike
