After some adjustments of the bias and rec eq that deck is capable of a 20kHz frequency response with metal tape at -20dB.
Can even goes to 30kHz at -25dB with a 1982 TDK MA !

Is this mod as simple as just removing the diode d148?
 
No need to remove D148, just pull R289 leg and connect it to D103 anode.
I might have some photos of how to do it, there's wrap pins so it's even easier to do the mod.

Here ya go.

R289, the leg with the black mark should be pulled out.

Pin #18 with purple and grey/white wires.

Solder a wire to R289.

Connect to other side of the wire to pin #18.

On more wire to the rat nest, now the oscillators will only be on during calibration, less noise on playback and no more 10kHz bump.

anyways, I see I am not the only one who prints schematics at big size onto more A4 sheets attached together and traces the schematic with a few coloured pencils! :D
 
Does anyone al-300 have a safety capacitor across the power switch? Mine makes a snap through the speakers when switched on and off I wonder if a x2 cap would solve this and if so what would be the best value?
 
On single voltage model (American market) there's a 0.01µF/125V capacitor.
No capacitor on multi voltage model (other countries), but the switch has two poles.

Mine is multovoltage I wonder what the harm is to have one added to save the switch and stop the noise on start up and power down?
 
Bonjour à tous, je me présente rapidement, français, 65 ans, passionné de musique et appareils Vintage donc analogiques, j'ai de nombreux appareils que, depuis que je me trouve en retraite, je cherche à "simplifier". Ainsi, je trouve époustouflants, du point de vue technique, les divers sujets traités quant à cette Alpine AL 300 que je possède en 3 exemplaires. Les réparateurs "analogiques" en France sont extrêmement rares maintenant et j'en ai fait révisé une auprès d'un excellent réparateur et passionné, mais alors qu'il l'a parfaitement restaurée, cette platine est à nouveau tombée en panne (ni Fwd, ni Rewind, ni Play). panne brusque ! Il cherche à trouver le moteur qui dit-il, ne se trouve plus. Avez-vous des adresses ou des sites sur lesquels on peut trouver ce composant devenu rare ? Sinon, j'ai des Nakamichi Dragon, 700 ZXL, 1000, Pioneer CT95, Nakamichi 680 ZX, etc...mais le son de cette Alpage Al 300 est vraiment digne des meilleures ! Pa avance merci, étant tombé sur votre site totalement par hasard, et comme ils ne sont plus légion j'en suis très heureux. Très musicalement, Didier
PS : pardon je n'ai pas vu, après recherche, comment créer un nouveau sujet, mais je pense quand même être sur la page Alpage AL 300...

En effet, pas facile de trouver des moteurs d'AL-300.
La panne décrite ressemble à un problème de moteur de bobinage hs mais ça me parait étonnant vu que ce moteur entraine une courroie et les poulies de bobinage rapide et lecture, qui son en plus montées sur les embrayages.
En cherchant bien on devrai pouvoir trouver un substitut, à moins que ça ne soit un problème électrique.

Bonjour et merci pour votre retour, 20tajk7. C'est une excellente machine, mais très difficile à démonter à cause de la multitude de câbles. Rien n'est simple avec cet Alpage AL 300, car il faut presque toujours démonter la mécanique pour accéder aux plus petits composants. J'en possède plusieurs, ainsi que des Nakamichi Dragon, qui ont besoin d'être révisés. Mais quel plaisir à écouter ! Et parfois, les enregistrements, une fois écoutés, sont de meilleure qualité que la source ! Cordialement, Didier
