Nevertheless; Can't wait to put these on the test bench:

One of my Christmas gifts would have been enough to satisfy me. My son, Matt, bought me a pair of AKG K-240 MK II headphones. I had these on not long after unwrapping them. Matt knew I was a fan of AKG, but he did demo several different pairs of headphones before buying these. Now, he knows why I like them so much, as they were the best he listened to in his price range. I was about to make the plunge to get a new set, or even a good pair of used ones, but I don't need to now. Or... I made the mistake of visiting the AKG web site and seeing the K812s. I can understand Miles' penchant for getting more headphones.

Nando.

Wow Nando.... This is a great gift of Matt!

Now, slap on the velours earpads that came with it and join the club!

Thanks Miles. I'm heading off to work for a few hours this morning, but I leave you with this:

Truly a nice gift! That's the reward of others' really knowing what you wish for...

So you've finally found a set of Sony's that like Miles?

Question about cans...

Most here seem to like the open back design. Can I ask why? The studio headsets all seem to be sealed back.

Open back designed headphones will leak sound that can be picked up by microphones during a recording session or a radioshow.

I have several "open" ones, and like them because they have an open character, it gives the music some space and air....
The closed one (like my AKG 271 mkII on the picture above) is an excellent one during mixing or recording sessions.
This one is also an excellent one to wear at a live radio session because of it's "auto shut off" function when taking it off.

Tony: I am stocked with Sambuca, Courvoisier Cognac, and Budweiser to last us through New Years 2014, and a little bit beyond. I didn't think I made it that obvious to family what my preferences were. Salut, Tony!

I caught fresh crab for Christmas. It might be a new Christmas tradition to have fresh crab for appetizers before the big turkey dinner.

Nando.

Man that crab looks phenomenal Nando. Sounds like a nice tradition to start.

I am also stocked with booze but havent been able to have a drop since xmas day. Still trying to shake this bug I have. Before this hit me on Wednesday, I managed to have a couple coffee with Baileys, a shot of Cherry Whiskey on ice(a tradition of my fathers that Rob and I still continue) and 1 small sip of Red Stag Bourbon.

I hope you shake that flu bug soon, Ben. I had me a coffee with Carolans and cognac, while first logging onto Phoenix this afternoon. The crab was excellent and I will be fishing for prawns for New Years Eve.

Nando.

Carolans and Cognac eh? Havent tried that before. I do enjoy a small bit of Red Stag in my coffee and Baileys at times though. I do like Carolans too.

Thanks Nando. I hope it goes away soon too... I got a case of Blue here as well, almost completely untouched by me.

Untouched Blue! You are sicker than I thought.

Nando.

Vintage.....

This weekend the Pioneer SE-L 40's arrived, which were given to me:

It's clear these can's will need a lot more attention than all the AKG's I did.......

There's no hurry, so let's start to look out for the missing and worn out parts of it.
