Yup, and a fresh Ed rebuild will trump Trump and a chump with old gear. I'm sure my old stuff ran hotter (flames and all), than a fresh rebuild/ build.

So, was an answer put forth or did I miss something?
At this point it's still not clear to me with everything concerning my apparent heat problem.

Was I over-reacting, maybe worrying too much?
Was I supposed to bring the ‘bo’ and brew to this party? No one told me to.
Should I just start using hot ice and place some on the heat sinks like the concert crews did?
Is it because I’m from NJ and no one ever did like Snookie?
Is it because I have two pairs of AR-LST speakers? I was with holding information, I own three pairs.
Does everyone want me to start purchasing the modifying kits?
Was there an entrance fee I missed?
Was it because I started talking to Don I. before he actually made the DC interrupter?
Is it because I still have my original PL400 amp for over 42 years and would never sell it?
Is this a case of elder abuse?
Maybe because I use MC cartridges?
Is it, if can’t take the heat, I should get out of the kitchen?
Are my feet too big? My nose?
Is it because I cut my pony-tail off back in late ’74?
Maybe because I sent my taxes in late?
Don’t tell it’s because I was born in Manhattan.
Is it because I own the rare PL fan shrouds?
Maybe because I drive Fords now, when I used to be a GM man and never cared for Mopars?
Perhaps because I prefer Macs and not Windows machines?
Because I no longer do my own oil changes?
Because I wear black jeans instead of blue jeans?
Because I liked the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s much more compared to the 2000s?
Is it that I rather listen to vinyl because it’s better than CD’s?
Maybe because I stopped playing guitar and switched to electric bass in ’67?
Oh, I know. It’s because I sold my ‘P’ bass and kept my Hofner.
Could it be because I was a Navy man and not a Marine?
Because I believe in sex before marriage?
I got it, it’s because I no longer shave everyday.
Please, someone throw me a line.

The point still exists that the two PL700’s restored by Ed B. don’t become nearly as hot as my newest PL700 amp. I tried operating Ed’s amps without fans and they still won’t become as hot as the newer one with fans going.

I’m not entirely satisfied here with a conclusive or detailed answer.
Was I asking for too much attention regarding my situation?

Do my amps not matter to anyone except me?

Short answer Frank, check your bias setting. It should be 0.35V on each channel.

Frank, this board has more knowledge then the seller could ever hope to have. I agree with Joe and Lee, I bet the bias is set too hot and you definitely need to add a DCP and replace all the old transistors. You have a mushroom cloud coming just over the horizon. I would not push this one at all. Sounds like it was just minimally put together for a sale
