20+ years in the publishing industry taught me to steer clear of all things Microsoft. I'm a Mac head and I won't go back. I have a Windows computer, using 64 bit Windows 10, and I get sick of fighting with it every time I turn it on. With the Mac I get my shit done without problems.
A Win 10 64bit machine properly setup/configured is the best Windows platform ever.

It's... umm... still Windows, though...
Well then you're doing it (Windows) wrong.

Hey, I get the whole - It's Apple and it just works thing - but that's not the point really.
Macs have their quirks and their kinks, and the wallet rape job that goes along with it.

Certain professions pretty much demand a Mac or Macbook Pro as the go-to tool.
But you still have a Win 10 rig, so having one that works must still be somewhat important.

I could spend 90 minutes with you and change your mind about Windows 10 64bit.
It might not be an Apple after that but the experience would be a thousand percent better,
assuming no cockpit induced errors that is.

Just sayin'

No... I'm not... But I'll leave that there. I agree to disagree, hope you will do the same.

I do know some tricks that may help you, though- FIRST install a second HD and tell the OS to put your virtual memory file on it- reduce "chatter" in your "C" drive- runs faster! Reserve "C" for your OS only- NO program files, no document files- the second drive can have multiple partitions, so put your applications and home directory there- also makes it run a bit better. Also makes backups run quicker.

One of the things I miss about XP was that I could right-click and drag my "C:\Documents and settings\MarkC" folder to another partition and make that my home directory. At least Win10 allows me to default documents to another place.

I do know what to do with computers, both have advantages which is why I have both. I just like to use the Mac better- and it seems to work much better with the creative stuff (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark XPress, video editing...).

I liked Linux, liked the OS, but hated the software. Lots of applications for Linux, but none with any panache, no polish... Most of the Unix variants use a "shell" interface for GUI, and the Mac OS is just a shell program for BSD Unix- so it's in two layers.

Yes- they (myself included) should STFU! And I like the last line- they're BOTH crap! Apple did a great thing in terms of stability when they went to Unix and Intel, but in the process buggered it beyond belief. At least Unix provides a CLI to make cleanup quicker.
At this point I will STFU...

If somebody want to steal my identity, or track me, they must be some bored, lame, stupid, lazy pussies......
I hate to say it but I've met a couple of those in my time.

Macs just work better for what I do with a computer. It's not a political stance, and I was never one to clobber anyone with my choices. And I've known so many Mac snobs myself that I recognize the obnoxiousness and don't want it in my skin. Honestly, it was funny- I got a laugh or two from it.

And my skin is thicker than that anyway... I have a saying: "I'll be pissed off for half an hour, but that guy faces a lifetime of assholeism..."

However, I don't buy brown shoes. If it's leather, it should be BLACK. People who wear brown shoes should be plucked from humanity, the hole they leave behind should be filled with putty, sanded smooth, and painted over. No exceptions.

(And the videos were done in iMovie...)

331 million people ditched Internet Explorer and Edge this year

Microsoft introduced its Edge browser in Windows 10; the browser is Microsoft’s latest attempt to fend off the mass exodus from Internet Explorer to Google Chrome and other competing browsers. It’s not working.
New data from Net Applications cited by Computerworld suggests that 331 million people have left Microsoft’s Edge and Internet Explorer browsers for other platforms, such as Chrome, this year alone. Just to put that figure in perspective, it represents about the population of the entire United States. People aren’t just leaving in droves, they’re fleeing. Net Applications said only 466 million users were using Internet Explorer or Edge at the end of October. That represents a massive 40 million person decline from the month prior.
IE and Edge users aren’t just walking away, they’re running

Microsoft is trying to keep its users, no doubt, by trying to convince everyone that Edge is much better at battery management. It introduced features like Cortana support, pinned tabs and more, but none of those functions seem to be worth sticking around for. Chrome, a notorious system hog, wasn’t the main beneficiary this time, though. Instead, Computerworld said that Mozilla’s Firefox saw a user increase of about 2 percentage points, gathering a large chunk of the 2.7 percent of the user’s bailing from Microsoft’s ship. The pace doesn’t seem to be slowing, either, with a decline predicted to continue into the next several months according to Computerworld.
Edge is still the default browser in Windows 10, a fantastic new operating system from Microsoft, but that’s not enough to keep users hanging on. I use Chrome, for example, because it keeps everything in sync across my mobile devices, too. Microsoft doesn’t have a mobile browser presence, which means I can only use Edge when I’m on a PC. That’s not how we interact with the Web anymore, so Microsoft is either needs to adapt or continue bleeding out.

Firefox - with it's huge library of Add-ons, is where it's at baby !

Funny, though: I bought a SimpliSafe alarm system which had a USB dongle/remote entrance switch. On it were a Mac app and a Win app. Neither of them worked. Customer support instructed me to use IE. One of the reasons for the dongle was to save alarm system configuration. I recall a few other instances where I was told that certain things won't work unless I use IE. Active-X probably is the reason.

ActiveX is a PITA...you have to turn it on to make a lot of websites work and of course, porn and other video is Flash a lot of the time so it doesn't see Flash, but the you have to turn filtering off to get Flash...even YAHOO purveys this garbage method.

AcitveX was invented for like videogames or something anyway. So if you want to watch good 70s and 80s crap you have to rely on the worst crap of the 1990s on a 2016 platform, created by some stoner geek who barely had a 16-bit machine to do it.

COME ON.

PS Adobe sent out yet another Flash update to me today, I thought this stuff was going away but it's like drugs.

IE makes up for some things that are supposed to work on the web but don't (quite work). Being the big kahuna, you are obligated to make things that are coded poorly work, or else you do not stay the big kahuna. The holy grail of standardize web coding was to be html5. Unfortunately a lot of bad code still exists for a long time after that perfect standard emerges.

MS has done that yeoman's work for years, to make things work. This makes them a little impure in the eyes of the purists out there but what in life doesn't have a work around or two?

They are all flawed in some way or another. I use MS because if they track my data, they are too consumed/stupid with other stuff to make any useful purpose with it. Not so with Google, their livelihood is ad dollars and tracking the hell out of you.
